Did the police arrest Lukreesha, too?
Was it illegal for Moses to possess this item?
Was the item tangible? something that can be carried away? in a backpack? in the hands? in a pocket?
was the item of a size less than a car? less than a travel bag? less than a bread box?
was it a computer?

An illegal tangible item that can fit in a breadbox ( if it wanted to :-) ):
a plant or a fungus?
a bird or an animal?
a historical artifact?
an everyday item, but made out of some illegal materials?

Is it's possession illegal everywhere? By anyone?

Welcome back, Gregory!

Is it something that is generally acknowledged to have only one legal "owner" (like Egyptian artifacts belonging to the Egyptian government, for example [though I know you said no to historical artifacts])?

Is ivory relevant?

Was it disguised in some manner? so as not to seem like something illegal?

Is technology relevant? Did she steal his cell phone? tablet? laptop? computer? which had kiddie porn (*shudder*) on it?

Did anyone besides L know that M had this item?
Is it relevant whether or not anyone else lived with M and L (if they lived in the same house)?
Did L give the object to someone? Did she show it/display it to anyone? Did she tell someone that she had it?
Is the object something that can be eaten? Smoked (like a cigar/cigarette)? Used as money? Used as a weapon?

Hmmm... I'm wanting to ask if it's counterfeit currency, but the statement:

an everyday item, but made out of some illegal materials? Yope/noish, no to the rest above.

makes me pause...
Is any of this relevant?

The item can be used as money as in:
- it works in vending machines and parking meters?
- it can be exchanged by a reputable exchange dealer for other currency?
- it is accepted by some reputable people in trade for goods or services?
- it is accepted by some unreputable people in trade for goods or services?

Is the item made predominantly of metal? wood? paper? cloth? plastic? clay? glass? carbon? other plant or animal matter? a-mixture-of-items-such-that-none-of-them-is-really-predominant?

The reason for yope/noish was that the materials themselves weren't illegal, only if you use them to make money.
