Speaking of the last one, is the pastime something indoors? outdoors? can one play it virtually anywhere? or only in places specifically built/created for the purpose? |

How has this proceeded this far without someone asking: Is the pasttime lateral puzzles? :) Does the pasttime involve multiple puzzles? Do you usually collect one zoff per puzzle? Can you get more than one zoff in a puzzle? Do you always get a zoff with each puzzle? Do you get zoff's from presenting the puzzles to others? from solving puzzles presented to you? from observing others solving puzzles? from seeing the puzzle being presented and also the solution, without necessarily knowing the steps in between? |

How has this proceeded this far without someone asking: Is the pasttime lateral puzzles? I was also wondering this...but it's not :-( Does the pasttime involve multiple puzzles? Yes Do you usually collect one zoff per puzzle? Not necessarily Can you get more than one zoff in a puzzle? Yes Do you always get a zoff with each puzzle? No Do you get zoff's from presenting the puzzles to others? No from solving puzzles presented to you? Yes from observing others solving puzzles? Could be this from seeing the puzzle being presented and also the solution, without necessarily knowing the steps in between? Could be this Just as a note - 'puzzles' is OK, but there is a slightly better word for the pastime. |

Hint: Biograd's guess regarding Scrabble players knowing words that others don't was on the right track. You've established that a zoff is a fact which serves as the answer to a question or questions in my hobby of trivia quizzes. There is only a little more. |

Is a zoff a fact obtained by guessing the correct answer to a quiz question, which you can then put to use if the same question is asked in another quiz? |

Is a zoff a fact obtained by guessing the correct answer to a quiz question, which you can then put to use if the same question is asked in another quiz? Yes - I think that's enough for the *****SPOILER***** A zoff is a fact which often comes up in trivia quizzes, but which I only know because it has come up in a quiz and not from discovering it in any real-world sense. For example, I could quote word for word plenty of quotes from 'classic' films I have never seen, and also tell you who starred in and directed them. I also know plenty of obscure world capitals for no other reason that they have come up repeatedly in quizzes. If anyone has the problem that they are getting too much work done, I recommend www.sporcle.com to solve that once and for all. |

Oh and by the way, 'zoff' is vaguely derived from the letters in 'quiz information' but I didn't want to give too much away with a standard acronym! |
