I have experienced nolefoy before. I highly suspect that at least one, if not more, LTPF-er has experienced nolefoy as well. Not only that, but those who experience nolefoy always experience yofelon before experiencing nolefoy. So, what do nolefoy and yofelon mean?

As always, my title is, in a very roundabout way, related to the puzzle. Also, I'll only be able to answer questions on weekends, life's been super busy lately.

is nolefoy the exact opposite of yofelon? In one sense, yes, they are. However, were I pushed for a straight yes-or-no answer, I'd have to say, no, they aren't exact opposites. So no.

If the "foy" related to Malfoy? To experience any of it, do you need to: read the books? Watch the movies? Read a specific book? Or a specific subset of the books? Same two questions for the films? Do you need anything relevant in addition to the books and/or films?

Is the "foy" related to Malfoy? No, clever idea though. To experience any of it, do you need to: read the books? Watch the movies? Read a specific book? Or a specific subset of the books? Same two questions for the films? Do you need anything relevant in addition to the books and/or films? You need to read/watch a specific book/film, although reading/watching the others won't prevent you from experiencing either nolefoy or yofelon. You do not need anything relevant in addition to the books and/or films.

Is the book: Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone? Chamber of Secrets? Prisoner of Azkaban? Goblet of Fire? Order of the Phoenix? Half-Blood Prince? Deathly Hallows? (Because I couldn't be bothered to type in "Harry Potter and the..." before everything. xD) Same question for films, please.

Both movie and book are Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone. And to clear up a slight FA that probably wouldn't have affected solving of the puzzle, you don't need to both read the book and watch the movie to experience nolefoy or yofelon.

Do you experience either while reading the book? I can't remember, it was so long ago, but I most likely did. Watching the movie? Same as before. Do any of the characters experience either? Excellent question! Many of the characters have experienced yofelon, but almost none of them have experienced nolefoy.
Is Norbert relevant? Hagrid? The Invisibility Cloak? (Relevant that Norbert later turns out to be a girl? =P) No, none of these relevant.
Is a specific character(s) from the book/movie relevant? A specific event? THIS! A specific spell? A specific magical item? A specific location? The order a certain sequence of events occurs? No to the rest.
Probably won't be too much longer now--but I could be wrong.

Ok, the event:
Finding out Harry's a wizard? Something that happens in Harry's life before Hogwarts? Him speaking to the snake at the zoo? The sorting hat? Riding the train? The invisible platform? The first time we hear about Voldemort? Something to do with Quiddich? Something to do with the Sorcerer's Stone? With the events towards the end of the book that lead to the climax/confrontation?

Ok, the event:
Finding out Harry's a wizard? The event occurs for Harry very close to this time, but it isn't finding out he's a wizard. Something that happens in Harry's life before Hogwarts? So, yes, it's before he goes to Hogwarts. No to the rest.

His birthday? No, and a slight *BLOOPER* on my part: technically, the event occurs BEFORE Harry's birthday, but most people would say the event occurs ON his birthday.

Does the fact that the Dursleys tried stopping the letters have to do with nolefoy? That the letters kept increasing in volume every time they were delivered? That the Dursleys kept moving Harry around?

Does nolefoy have anything to do with interfering with the mail in general? Trying to keep people from contacting someone?

Does the fact that the Dursleys tried stopping the letters have to do with nolefoy? Actually, yes, a little, but that could be misleading. That the letters kept increasing in volume every time they were delivered? That the Dursleys kept moving Harry around? No to rest, and focusing a little less on Harry's letter in particular would be helpful.

Does nolefoy have anything to do with interfering with the mail in general? Trying to keep people from contacting someone? No to these.

*****RECAP*****

Nolefoy and yofelon both have to do with the book series Harry Potter, the Hogwarts letters in particular. In order to experience either, you must read/watch either the book or movie of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer/Philosopher's Stone. Many of the characters in the series have experienced yofelon, and a very few of them have experienced nolefoy.
I fantasized and wished to receive a letter to Hogwarts, which is EXTREMELY relevant to the two words.

Is your age relevant? Eg once your eleventh birthday has passed you realise that you're not getting a letter after all? Is nolefoy the disappointment when you don't get a letter? The fantasizing/hoping about getting one? Is yofelon either of the above?

Would all characters who attend Hogwarts have experienced yofelon? All magical characters? Would all the characters who experience nolefoy have first experienced yolefon?

Could a muggle character experience yofelon? Nolefoy?

**********SPOILER**********

Nolefoy is the feeling of disappointment one experiences on their 11th birthday when they do not get their Hogwarts letter. Yofelon is the feeling of hope and excitement one experiences before their 11th birthday, hoping for a letter to Hogwarts.
Nolefoy is a near-double acronym of No letter for you. Yofelon is, of course, just nolefoy reversed.
Great job, Enjay, for solving, and to Balin, Beachbum, Galfisk, Kaylee, and Noel for participating!
