"We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day."?

Using library computer so can't copy & paste. Answer to all of these is NO - except maybe 'protecting' and not the USA as a whole.

AFAIK, he is not part of an alternate live style, or transgender. He himself is not part of a particular profession or vocation, but this is sort of OTRT. A profession is relevant.

Hint: We may be concentrating too much on 'he.'

Sorry about having to use the library computer.

Back on my own computer again, and will try to give this a nudge along.

His 'brothers' are not human.
And this has not been going on 'since time immemorable' but only since 1939 - if that's any help!

Any movies released in 1939 relevant? WWII? No to both. However, President Roosevelt is sort of relevant, remotely.
Are the "brothers" some type of appliance? If 'household appliance' is meant, no. But in the sense of 'something useful,' yes. Other physical objects? Yes, as above.

This seems to be stalled, so I'm going to give one more hint, then if no response within 48 hours, will spoil.

Hint: His 'brothers' are bigger than a car.
And if you live in the US, you have seen one, probably within 24 hours.

Is "brother" a company or brand name?
A nickname for something?
A natural object? No to all these.
Man-made? Yes!
Does he know how many brothers he has? Probably not, but it would not be impossible to find out - just difficult.
LTPF list of professions allowed? Yes. Education-related, but not teaching-related. It would not be used in a classroom.

Are all his "brothers" together, bigger than a car? Or is any single brother bigger than a car?
Are all his "brothers" the same size?
Do other people also have many "brothers"?
Would most people know these things by a different name than "brother"?

SCHOOL BUS! =D
Yes!
failing that...cheezburger truck? (hey, taco trucks exist) =) But are they yellow?

************SPOILER***************

In 1939, Frank Cyr headed a conference at Columbia Universary to select a standardized color for school buses, for reasons of safety, but also because at that time buses had to be made to order, and mass production was desired. After experimentation, it was decided that black lettering on yellow was the most visible in the early morning or twilight hours, and this was instituted.
Frank Cyr, who died in 1995, became known as "the father of the yellow school bus." His son, William, asked him "If you're the father of the yellow school bus, what does that make me?"
His dad told him that whenever he saw a school bus, he could say "There goes one of my brothers."

Kudos, Kaylee, and thanks to all who stuck with this.
