There's a particularly good way of helping the hungry that no one seems to recognize. Except wonderful me, of course. What is it?

Eating insects (being serious here!) ?
Muffin bottoms (not serious - Seinfeld reference)?
Does it involve directly supplying food?
Does it involve a means of growing plants? Raising animals?
Does it involve cultural taboos about what animals one should eat?

No competitive eating?

Does it involve not wasting food? Does it involve giving the hungry unhealthy food? (please say no!)

Does this master plan involve everybody who is trying to diet inviting a homeless person to dinner every night to serve as personal trainer? Instead of making them exercise like crazy, the homeless person makes sure the host eats an appropriate amount and takes the rest for themselves? Including leftovers?

Ok, maybe what you are saying is that it is far better to feed the truly starving, say stuff from fast food restaurants than to not feed them at all. Understood. Oh, and BTW, relevant?

Oh and don't poo-poo eating insects. Many cultures do this, and they are very plentiful and nutritious. Or maybe I've listened to one too many TED talks...

OK, I meant not, like, giving them fatally poisoned food. I should have used the word poisoned instead of the word unhealthy! Anyway, now for some more questions!

Does it involve making more food? Delivering it in a different way? Supplying the hungry with materials to make/grow their own food?

Anything to do with how much food rich countries waste? Anything to do with overproduction of food in the western world?

Food preservation techniques relevant?

By the way the Insect Eating Thing was in the news quite recently.

Relevant that desserts are nicer than other food? That they are less healthy? Is the idea something like if you are on a diet, give the dessert you can't have to a hungry person? Is it based on the idea that if desserts have a lot of calories, they are a good thing to eat if you are often hungry?

Would this method result in the hungry people eating more desserts? Eating more non-dessert food? Receiving some kind of help other than a donation of food?

Does it have anything to do with the high turnover rate of product in a Bakery (bread, cake or otherwise)? Because the product has a very limited shelf life unless they add all sorts of artificial ingredients? So why not just give the stuff with less than 3 days of shelf life left to the hungry?

Would the food be given to the hungry in a specific place for the purpose, like a soup kitchen? Given to them wherever they are? Would the food be donated by individuals? Organisations? Companies? Would the hungry people pay for it?

Would this idea help the hungry by making more food available for them? Making it easier for them to get the food? Making them want to get the food?

Does the idea involve offering desserts as well as whatever is currently offered to the hungry (which I am guessing is usually pretty plain)? Thus making the place where the food is given out more enticing?

********** SPOILER *****************
I sometimes see bins (often in supermarkets) for donating food to the homeless or hungry. I always donate one can of a main dish that I know tastes good because I ate it as a grad student on a tight budget (e.g. Chef Boy-ar-Dee ravioli or Dinty Moore stew). But -- & this is the point of the puzzle, -- I also donate one package of something just for pleasure (cookies or candy) because homeless people like sweets & probably rarely get them from the do-gooders who pride themselves on dispensing wholesome fare to the needy. I recommend that you try this method, too, and also that you scroll down to my new puzzle at the bottom of the page.
