A trait of mine that lesser folk might consider bad is enabling me to benefit a friend in a way that almost no one else could do as well. How come??

Is the trait directly allowing you to benefit the friend (e.g. your ability to drive when he/she/it required a ride)? or in a more indirect way (e.g. your wealthiness allowed you to call a cab)?

"no -- why would that make them lesser?" No idea, but some people think in weird ways.

"whatever gave you the idea that I was wealthy??!!" - I have no idea if you're wealthy or not, but I'm sure that there are people who are not as wealthy as you are. I don't consider myself wealthy either, but I know that some of my friends have less money than I do, so I could consider them "lesser folks" in terms of wealth.

But anyway, back to the puzzle =)

Shot in the dark: does your friend collect candy wrappers and you can provide him/her with them?

Is candy relevant? ice cream? cake? other sweet food?

"no -- why would that make them lesser?" No idea, but some people think in weird ways. They sure do!!

"whatever gave you the idea that I was wealthy??!!" - I have no idea if you're wealthy or not, but I'm sure that there are people who are not as wealthy as you are. I'm a professor & op-ed columnist which makes me far from either rich or poor.I don't consider myself wealthy either, but I know that some of my friends have less money than I do, so I could consider them "lesser folks" in terms of wealth.

But anyway, back to the puzzle =)

My blood glucose dropped to 62 last night so I was obliged to eat some candy - darn. (:

To confirm, then, the relevant trait from the puzzle statement is your having "eat anything" days?

Is her relevant interest the consumption of sweets?

Does she join/has she joined you while you partook?

Is anything she has eaten relevant? Anything she hasn't eaten?

Is she able to join you in your eat anything days specifically because they are spaced out? and so she has time to return to the correct blood sugar level before the next one? Did you introduce her to the concept of a "cheat" day? and now she can have one from whatever diet she stays on to keep her blood sugar regulated regularly?

No, unfortunately, even occasional "eat everything you want" days are harmful to diabetics.

I just had some M&Ms and some Jelly Bellies. I really don't try to go hypo like that, but when I do I reckon I might as well enjoy it.

And for those who might be wondering, as noted by Felicia Nimue, the ideal for type 2 diabetics is to be able to maintain a blood sugar level that is below 150 mg/dL two hours after eating; this avoids complications such as blindness, loss of limbs, neuropathy etc. Fasting levels, again ideally, should be around 80-100.

Vicarious enjoyment? Does being with you during one of these events help her to resist eating sweets? Fulfill a need for her?
