There is a certain compliment that Lisandra resents getting from anyone who hasn't known her for at least 2 decades or so. How come?

Is she (very) old? If so, older than 70? than 80? than 90? than 100?
If so, is the compliment about her physical fitness? her mental capacities?

If not, is she younger than 30? 30-50? 50-70?

Is the compliment to do with her memory? A specific aspect of her memory? Is it just that she has a good memory? Does the compliment compare Lisandra to someone else? To a group of people?

Does she resent the compliment because it suggests that the speaker underestimates old people? Because it seems patronising? Because it is inaccurate?

Is there an event that occurred 20 years ago that's relevant? Was there an incident that seriously called into question her ability to remember things?

Did Lisandra famously forget something 20 years ago? Something it'd be extraordinary to forget?

Would people who have known her for at least 20 years know a particular thing about her that others wouldn't? Is the age of the people who have known her for 20 years relevant? If she had a 20 year old grandchild would they get off the hook? Relevant what capacity these people have known her in? Relevant how old Lisandra was 20 years ago (except in that she has to be old now for the puzzle to work)?

Is there some reason why Lisandra knows that her old acquaintances are not being patronising when they say it? Do these people have a real reason to be impressed by her memory? Does she frequently remember things that happened early on in their acquaintance, which would be impressive for a person of any age?

Does Lisandra compare herself to her "peers" in terms of memory?

Is there a particular thing she remembers?

Is there something unusual about the thing(s) she remembers?

the people that knew her 20 years ago - they know something about her that others wouldn't? that 'something' - something she did? used to do regularly? something she used to say? some way she used to behave?

do they have reason to think that she ought to have a poor memory at 70? did she do something years ago which might lead her to have a poor memory now? did she drink a lot of alcohol? take drugs? was she ill years ago?

so would they be saying, in effect, 'you have a great memory now which is surprising considering what you did all those years ago? or what you have been doing for 20 years or more?

Has Lisandra's memory changed at all since 20 years ago? 20 years ago, did people still tell her she has a good memory? If so, was she annoyed by it back then? Did there used to be a different compliment she was annoyed by?

If someone who has known Lisandra for 20 years told the relevant thing about her to someone who has known her for less time, would Lisandra then accept the compliment coming from that second person?

Does Lisandra know that when these old friends compliment her they are not implying 'you have a great memory for an old person', but genuinely mean the compliment regardless of age?

Does Lisandra actually have a particularly good memory?

Is Lisandra's past or present job relevant? Her family? Any hobbies or interests she has? Her health?

************* SPOILER *************
Lisandra has always had a good memory, & she didn't mind comments on it when she was young. But once she was old, she wondered whether comments on it were based on the idea that it was surprising that she wasn't senile. Of course, she did not have this reservation with people who had been remarking on her memory ever since she was young or middle-aged. This puzzle turned out to be harder than a expected -- a welcome change, but still continuing evidence that I'm lousy at judging puzzle difficulty. So I won't hazard a guess about the di9fficulty of the new one I'm about to post, but please check it out.
