If it had been winter, he would have died.

E-mailing you a far-fetched stab in the dark before I begin questioning in earnest.

Time or location relevant? If so, [LTPF lists of centuries and continents], please.

Would he have died of natural causes? would he have been murdered? executed?

Is any of the following relevant about winter?
snow? ice? low temperatures? darkness? Christmas? New Year?

Well, is transportation relevant?

Would his death be an accident?

Is he an athlete or sportsman of some kind? Does his hobby involve being outside? Is there a high rate of injury associated with this hobby? Does water in any form play a role in this puzzle (as fog/mist/hail/slipperiness on roads etc.)?

Does the sport involve jumping off something? Is the slight expansion and contraction of structures according to the season/temperatures key to the solution?

Parachuting? Paragliding? Hanggliding?

Would his equipment have been altered by winter? Or would he have brought another set of equipment entirely if it was winter? And the winter equipment wasn't working properly?

If it had been winter, would his parachute not have worked? Would he have landed in the wrong place? Would he have died on his way to the ground? Died because of some interaction with the plane he jumped from? Died before he even jumped? Landed safely, but then died?

So he would not have died before he jumped, on his way to the ground OR after he had landed??? I'm confused!

Would he not have jumped at all?

Aha! Of course! Hahaha! Silly me, I didn't think of the obvious!

So he would have died of the impact? Just because of the mere strength of it? Or because of what he would have landed on? Or near? Would he have been impaled? Or electrocuted?

So he would have died of the impact? This is part of it Just because of the mere strength of it? Or because of what he would have landed on? But this is also very important Or near?

Would he have landed somewhere different in winter? Or at the same spot, but something else would have been there in winter? If the latter, would this something have been placed there by humans? Or be there as a result of some natural process?

When I asked a question on Jondahr's puzzle, you answered that the jumper hit an unexpected something, which was harder (and less relevantly sharper) than expected, near the ground. Is this correct?

Was it some sort of apparatus in use in Winter that does not see use (or as much use) in other seasons?

So, something was naturally present at his landing spot that would not have been present in winter, and if this thing had not been present, he would have died - right?

Did this thing cushion his fall? Leaves on a tree/bush that made the hit softer than if it had bare branches? Anything like that?

Did this thing cushion his fall? Yes Leaves on a tree/bush that made the hit softer than if it had bare branches? *DING DING DING* Anything like that? Something exactly like that, so

****SPOILER****

A skydiver's jump went awry and he crashed into a tree. It was summer and the tree was very leafy; the leaves cushioned the impact and allowed him to survive. Had it been winter, there would have been no leaves on the tree and he would not have lived.

Nice quick solve Jondahr, new puzzle in a bit.

I just discovered and read through this puzzle, and right up until the spoiler I was convinced that he fell in a lake! If it had been winter, it would have been ice, leading to a harder fall.
