A british man in fancy dress consumes six litres of beer, then six litres of weak tea. He then remains perfectly still for a fortnight. What had happened?

Did he consume the six litres if beer in a manner of minutes? Hours? Days? Same for the tea? Did he consume anything else inbetween portions of beer? Of tea? Between the beer and the tea?

Relevant what kind of tea? Relevant what kind of beer?

Is he HAM? Is his age, gender, profession or hobby relevant?

Is the man alive before consumption? After consumption? After a fortnight?
Consumes = drinks? If yes, willingly?
A fancy dress = a wear that is typical for women? judge's robe? choir robe?
After a fortnight, does the man move?

Just throwing in a wild theory.

Any play on words? Was the tea too weak (two weeks-fortnight)?

Would he still have stayed still for a fortnight if he'd consumed 7 litres of beer and tea? Or 5 of each?

Would he still have stayed still for a fortnight if he'd consumed 6 litres of tea of a standard strength?

Jondahr:

Did he consume the six litres if beer in a manner of minutes? Hours? this - enough hours not to have dropped dead of alcohol poisoning on the spot after the 6th litre Days? Same for the tea? minutes Did he consume anything else inbetween portions of beer? no Of tea? no Between the beer and the tea? no

Relevant what kind of tea? no - for the record it wasn't anything green or herbal Relevant what kind of beer? no

Is he HAM? yes Is his age, gender, profession or hobby this is closest relevant? yes, see above

Jondahr:

Tonic relevant, btw? No, but you have highlighted a missed opportunity for a pun

Redwine:

Is the man alive before consumption? yes After consumption? not for long After a fortnight? no
Consumes = drinks? yope If yes, willingly? yope
A fancy dress = a wear that is typical for women? Ah, idomatic expressions rear their ugly head again. He was in a costume judge's robe? choir robe? no to both
After a fortnight, does the man move? yes

Peter365:

Just throwing in a wild theory.

Any play on words? no Was the tea too weak (two weeks-fortnight)? Haha! Reminds me of the boy scout who consumed nothing but pea soup. But that's a sordid tale for another day...

Psydkik:

Would he still have stayed still for a fortnight if he'd consumed 7 litres of beer and tea? yes, although impossible under the circumstances Or 5 of each? there is a truly minuscule chance that he might have started moving sooner

Would he still have stayed still for a fortnight if he'd consumed 6 litres of tea of a standard strength? yes

Wow. Hm.

Was he murdered? Did he commit suicide? Or, at least, did he know he was going to die? Accidental death? Was the drinking a measure to prevent death? Was he poisoned? Ruptured stomach?

Was he at a party at any point? When he died?
Was he in his home? Another house? Another building? Outside? In a submarine? (I don't know.)

Did he consume the beer in an unusual way? Injecting? Was this a frat house type prank that went wrong? Was it a dare?

Gonna come right out and ask.....Was the beer poured into an orifice other than his mouth e.g. up his bottom? Was the cause of death drowning? or like water intoxication only with beer & tea?

Did he fell into the barrel of beer? Was he thrown into the barrel of beer? Did he win a game of standing on top of the beer barrel on one's hands and trying to drink as much as one can using a tube/pipe (I read about it recently and cannot believe people play this sort of things...)?

Did he fell into the barrel of beer? Was he thrown into the barrel of beer? no to both, but OTRT Did he win a game of standing on top of the beer barrel on one's hands and trying to drink as much as one can using a tube/pipe (I read about it recently and cannot believe people play this sort of things...)? Ah, the 'kegstand'. Never tried it myself, despite having lived in a university hall. No, that's not the solution

Did he drown in water? Tea? Beer?

Did he do something unwise due to intoxication? That lead to his death? Or, perhaps not something he did, but something he allowed to happen?
If so, is it something a sober person would probably never do/allow? And if so, did it occur before drinking the tea? After drinking it? Was it the actual act of drinking it?

If so, is it something a sober person would probably never do/allow? they'd be considerably less likely to And if so, did it occur before drinking the tea? yes After drinking it? no Was it the actual act of drinking it? no

Ah, would he be one of the revolutionaries dressed as Indians who staged the Boston Tea Party? And this particular fellow drowned in Boston Harbor?

Ah, would he be one of the revolutionaries dressed as Indians who staged the Boston Tea Party? And this particular fellow drowned in Boston Harbor? yes!

***** SPOILER *****

He was a revolutionary dressed as an Indian who staged the Boston Tea Party. After having a little too much beer to celebrate, he inadvertently fell into Boston Harbour on his walk home. He drowned in a massive body of strongly-diluted tea. His body was found and removed a fortnight later.

Went quicker than I thought, but I hope you found the situation amusing. Well done Irishelk, you truly made the vorpal blade go snicker-snack with that one-two set of questions

Wow impressive work from both setter and solver. I was on about as wrong a track as one can be on.
