Another puzzle where someone doesn't die.

A better grip and he wouldn't have been knocked out.

Better grip on: his part? Someone else's? Knocked out: loss of consciousness by excessive g-forces to the brain? He: H? A? M?
WAG: did someone lose a baseball bat, knocking him out with it?

Did he hit something? Did something hit him? Vehicles relevant? Did he fall? Did something else fall? Can we call brain-person Adam and grip-person Bob?

Was Bob holding directly onto the item that fell? Onto something else? Is the reason why Bob lost his grip relevant? Or how he lost it exactly? Did bob know Adam would get knocked out if he lost his grip? Did the thing fall straight down? In an arc? did it tip over?

Was the falling item in contact with the ground at any time before hitting Adam?

Did Bob lose his grip because of: excessive force? Insufficient friction? Distraction? Carelessness? Being startled? Pain? Fatigue? Loss of consciousness? Injury? Can it be said that the item tipped over? That it fell on top of Adam?
Was there a problem with the item, before it tipped? Could Bob have been reasonably expected to hold his grip?

The idea of something falling "in an arc" gives me the idea of a tree falling, but since the item is man-made this isn't it. Is the item something like a tree? Such as a utility pole/post?

Another example of "in an arc" would be if something came from a high elevation (higher than Bob) and was moving both toward Bob and toward the ground at the same time, as if someone rolled a ball off a roof and as it continued in a direction it also fell. Is it this kind of arc?

Was Adam supposed to be holding the item in place, and it slipped from his grasp? Or did Adam catch and then release the item, allowing it to fall?

You might want to try figure out what the object is; then you can probably come up with the right word.

Just a matter of clarification, since I've mixed up the names a couple times (including in the previous recap): Adam is the one who got knocked out; Bob, the one who lost his grip on the sledgehammer.

Is this sort of thing relevant? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ju3NA8zQuI Maybe...

****SPOILER****

There is a festival in the Mexican village of San Juan de la Vega where the residents tape explosives to sledgehammers and swing them into the ground, causing a nice boom. Bob lost his grip on the sledgehammer when the explosives went off, sending the hammer in an arc through the air and onto Adam's noggin.

Nice near-solo solve, Galfisk, and may you maintain a better grip.
