It's been a while since I did an own puzzle here...in the meantime I've come across a couple of ideas for puzzles

Although it was obvious that they just pretended taking drugs, the host of the party was not happy at all.

Another "boys will be boys" story, true incident, and I have to admit this time I was one of "them"

Relevant how the drugs were "taken"? If so: eaten? Drunk? Smoked? Inhaled? Snorted? Injected? Huffed?
Relevant which drug it "was"?
Was the host unhappy because it could attract attention? Because it was insensitive? Offensive? Annoying? Messy? Dangerous? Dumb?

If so: eaten? Drunk? Smoked? Inhaled? Snorted? This Injected? Huffed? But maybe FA
Relevant which drug it "was"? Not beside the fact that the drug was supposed to be snorted

Was the host unhappy because it could attract attention? Because it was insensitive? Offensive? Annoying? Messy? Dangerous? Dumb?
No to these (maybe -ish to Messy). Of course it was really dumb, but the host could have standed silly behaviour if it had been just that

Did they do anything else besides pretending to snort something, which made the host unhappy? Did something else happen, which made the "snorting" look bad in context? If so, did it happen at the party?

Is it relevant what they were actually pretending to snort? Sugar? Salt? Flour? Something else that looks like a snortable drug?

Are any people besides the snorters and the host relevant for the puzzle?

So, was the "drug" some white powder? Was it perhaps laundry detergent? Chalk? Is it something that can be easily found at a party? Something that can be easily found at an average home? Something that can be easily acquired by anyone? Is it relevant how they acquired the "drug"? If so, did they bring it to the party with them? Did they take it from the host? Did host know about that?
Was the host unhappy simply because they were in posession of the "drug"? Because of how they acquired it?

Is the "drug" some kind of medicine? The kind you can't get without prescription? Was it perhaps an actual drug? Did they know what it was? Or did they just see some white powder and decide to "snort" it?

Was the host unhappy because they had taken the drug from where they were not supposed to be? Because no one was supposed to know that the host was in posession of that "drug"? Was the snorting of that particular "drug" dangerous? Did that upset the host?

Did they acquire the "drug" at the party? Did the "drug" belong to the host? To one of the guests? Is it relevant where the party was? If so, was it at the host's home? At a club?

Is it hard and dangerous to acquire the "drug" becuase the "drug" per se is dangerous? Or because it can be used for creation of actual drugs or poisons or explosives?

Did they know what the "drug" was because it was in a labeled container? Or because they knew what that particular drug would look like? Is this relevant?

By "get into some trouble", do you mean trouble with law? Personal trouble? Trouble at work? Something else?

Is it relevant why the host had this "drug" at home? Was it because he (or someone else who lived there) needed it for work? Or did he need it because of some medical condition?

Did the host have it in his car? At work? Somewhere else? Was the "drug" located where the host would use it?

So, did they at some point leave the party, go to the place where the "drug" was, take the drug and then return to party? In that cas, was the host upset because they left the party? Did they know where the host was keeping his "drug"? Or did they go to this place for some other reason and discover the "drug" there? Or did they ask someone else who was coming to bring the "drug"?

Was the host even aware that he was in possesion of that "drug"? Was he unhappy to discover that he was? Because having this "drug" means there is a problem with something?

Or maybe, if he wouldn't use it, he was keeping it as a souvenir? Is it relevant how the host came into possesion of the "drug"? Did he buy it? Find it? Steal it? Did he acquire it knowingly?

So the "drug" wasn't located at the host's home and they never left the party to get it? Did one of the guests bring the "drug" inside? Or did it appear in the host's home at some point during the party, whereupon it was discovered by them and subsequently by the host? Did it appear because of something they did?

Spray paint? Did it come from something commonly found on balconies, or just on this particular one?

Something that the builder would have put on the balcony? Or something that the owner/renter would have put there?

A hammock? Swing? Lounge chair? None of these
Something a person would sit on? Sit in? No
Something for holding things? Sometimes, yes

I should never move to the US. They appear to have rather small balconies there =)

I guess it may not be as obvious to people from the U.S. since most places have restrictions on what can and cannot be put onto balconies. In the U.S., most places have rules that do not allow things such as grills, refrigerators, firepits or small chimneys, stoves, or anything that would potentially leak water or cause a fire. And other than small furniture, most balconies aren't large enough for large furniture.

Is the thing electronic? Does it produce light? Can it move easily? Is it a cooler? Freezer? Something with a lid? Something that can be opened? Something that can be locked? Is it wider than it is tall? Or more tall than wide? Is it rectangular? Round? A cylinder? Sphere? Does it have a flat surface? A coffee maker? You weren't snorting coffee grounds were you?

Well, there will be no legal restrictions against this piece of furniture in any country, unless they're ruled by a complete madman dictator...and there are also small versions of this kind of furniture...

Madman dictator? Well if you're following what's going on the US you may think we have one of those!

Is it a table? Something that looks like a table?
Would you sit next to this thing? Sit on it? Put food on it?
Is it a trash can? Compost box? Ottoman/footrest? Cot?

Indeed, it is just a plain old table - a white garden table. So what were they doing with the table?

What's madness is that it took us two dozen posts to think of 'table'.

Did they feed part of the table through a device? A wood chipper? The blade on an air-conditioning duct? Something with an intended purpose other than reducing things to powder?

Did they use a device smaller than the table to powderise it? A grater of some description? Sandpaper? An angle grinder or other power tool?

Did they just bash or rub the table against a surface until fragments of it wore away? Did this leave a permanent mark or impression?

Was the device they used to create the powder damaged as well as the table?

Actually, I was short of thinking that the English word "furniture" really meant "every kind of furniture but a table" and I just didn't know...

Was the device they used to create the powder damaged as well as the table? idk, assume no

It's now not very lateral anymore, so I might give the rest away soon. Nobody had brought an unusual device to the party, and it was a cheap table.

I assumed we had already asked about a table, breaking the "don't assume anything" rule about lateral puzzles!

Did you break pieces of the table off and put them into a blender? Make some kind of primitive mortar and pestle? Chip off small pieces with a pocket knife?

Was the table already falling apart? Were there little pieces of it on the floor? Or were you able to easily get small flakes/chips of it to come off?

Did you grind pieces up with something that was there at the site of the party? Something that you or someone else had brought? A tool of some kind?

Don't tell me it was a key...was it?

Well...I did not plan that part of the puzzle to cause any difficulty =)

********Spoiler*************
There was this party when some people decided to pull a really silly prank what they called "Snorting Garden Table". Snorting Garden Table consists of: Making scratches in the table surface with a key, or maybe it was a key ring, laying the powder that comes off out in lines, as if it were cocaine, and then pretending to snort it. Pure silliness, and no, this is not a common prank in Germany.

Of course the hosts were not happy about the scratches in the table (albeit a cheap plastic table - we ended up offering to buy them a new one)

Thanks for everyone holding on to this really silly puzzle =)
