When I was about 6 years old, my cousin Stace did something that would normally be dangerous, but on this occassion was especially so. I was happy, my mother was very panicked, and Stace complained that, "No one ever tells me anything!"

Obviously based on a real experience, so please don't judge my cousin too harshly.

Under 3? 3-5? 6-8? 9-12? 13+?

Were you present?

Did this take place at your house? Your cousin's house?

Was Stace's action immediately dangerous? Was it dangerous actively or passively (such as leaving a hazard around for a child to stumble into at their leisure)? Was it especially dangerous at there was a 6-year-old in the room? Would it have been dangerous to any 6-year-old?

Did it involve fire? Water? Sharp objects? Food or medicine?

Was the additional danger because of the condition that led to the heart monitor? or because of the monitor itself?

Could your cousin's actions have lead to making the monitor more dangerous? (eg risk of electrocution) Could his actions have lead to making the heart monitor malfunction? or cause inaccurate results when reading the monitor?

You said that living in an apartment is relevant. So...

Does it matter what floor he lives on? Could this puzzle work if he lives on the top floor? the bottom floor?

Are the stairs relevant? The elevator? A balcony?

SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
******************************************************************

Due to my childhood epilepsy, I was always on a different medication or doing some different test. Multiple times, I had to wear a heart monitor for usually a few days or a week. Well, back when my cousin owned an apartment, he thought it was a hoot to swing me around and pretend to throw me off his balcony.
He made the mistake of doing this when i was wearing my heart monitor, and my mom started yelling at him to get me down. As he was stammering, she explained my monitor. He immediately began yelling, "No one ever tells me anything!" throughout the rest of the day. My mom was worried there'd be a huge increase when my doctor checked my monitor...oddly enough, there was no jump in my heart rate. To this day, my mom and I joke that either I am incredibly laid-back, or they have faulty equipment. :-)

Good work everyone, especially Paul and Doriana.

Couldn't your mom have just noted the time and explained the situation to the doctor? Something's bound to get your heart rate up at some point in the five days. In fact, based on my limited medical knowledge it would be somewhat concerning if your heartrate didn't jump in a situation like that because it could mean something's wrong with some system or another.

Yeah, she probably should have noted it. And I might have been misleading. There were of course jumps in my heart rate those days, just not as extreme at that time as my mom expected from this event. Either way, my health is pretty much all good now, so it doesn't matter much any more.
