Well, Geeky Rant is over, and Crazy Cousin is pretty close, so here's a new one.

George said a few words before dying. It made an entire society question themselves.

Did George die executed? Murdered? In an accident? Did he die at all?
Was George famous before he said those words?

Was George sentenced to death while in fact he was not guilty? Did he in his last words reveal something that made people believe that he did not deserve to die?

So George was executed for witchcraft?
Did his last words provide sufficient societal proof that he was not a witch? Did he recite the Ten Commandments as he died?

"Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone"??? Good idea, but the actual meaning of the words isn't important. It was more of a conflict of logic.

The Lord's Prayer? That's the one! I think that about wraps it up. I expected this to last longer, haha.

SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
***********************************************************************************************
George Burroughs was executed for witchcraft in Salem on August 19, 1692. he is the only minister known to have suffered this fate. While waiting to be hanged, George recited the Lord's Prayer completely, which was thought to be an impossible task for a witch.

Despite this, he was hanged as planned. However, this has been noted in several books as the event that made many citizens start doubting the legitimacy of the witch trials.

This has always been one of my favorite stories, despite the sad ending just because of how clear-minded George managed to be. In his last moments, he changed a society's way of thinking. (Possibly, he was just really scared and praying for salvation, but whatever.)

Good work all!

I saw a movie once where this was a plot point -- one of the accused women recited the Lord's Prayer without stumbling over any words. But then one of the girls announced she could "see" the Devil leaning over the woman's shoulder, whispering the correct words into her ear...

Spooky...George was apparently accused by folks who owed him money or some such. They accused him of inhuman acts of strength.
Scary the horrific things humans are capable of doing.
