Nancy sings. Someone goes missing. Nancy dies due to her actions towards her friends, although she didn't do anything wrong, per se,

(This is loosely based on a book but it's more centered around the musical made of said book & Nancy is the real name of book character, that's all the hint I can give)

Hi and welcome to the forum! Hope you like it here =) Just a little piece of advice: Next time you post a puzzle, add your username to the thread subject line, because the forum doesn't do that automatically.

Is Nancy H/A/F? (human, adult, female; in case you are not yet familiar with the abbreviations)

Relevant what song she sings? Does her profession involve singing?

The someone who goes missing, H/A/M? H/A/F? a child? Does Nancy know the person who goes missing? Does the person go missing because of Nancy's singing?

Is the singing literal? or a euphemism for something else? bearing witness against someone else?

Is the singing the (or one of the) actions toward her friends?

Is she aware that her actions might bring about any harmful consequences? Are her friends?

Is location relevant? Is Nancy's profession? Is her age?

Is the missing person one of her friends?

Did the friends harm the child on purpose?
Have they done it before? Will they do it again?
Did they harm the child because they were cruel people? Are their intentions in harming the child relevant?

Do the friends work in law enforcement? For the government? In banking or finance? Education? Do they work in an orphanage?
Do they sell something? Does their work involve farming?

Is their line of work illegal?

Was the person to whom Nancy meant to deliver the child a stepparent? Grandparent? Other relation?

Are the actions of the other person which didn't go as smoothy as expected relevant?

were the dogs alerted by the singing? By the child? Is it relevant by what they were alerted?

Are the exact actions taken by Nancy re: singing & taking the child relevant?

I'd like to add that in the book the harming is intentional, as they were paid by his brother....something about inheritance.
