When you shorten your username to "WiZ", does the capitalised "Z" represent the first "z" in your username? Does it represent the last one?
Is capitalized "Z" an initial for a name of person? For a name of place?

Do you capitalize "Z" for symetry reason? Do capitalised "Z" is also an initial for something, apart of being the third letter of your username?

Do you capitalize "Z" for symetry reason? yes! I could spoli the puzzle here, but it may be interesting to keep it alive a bit longer. I didn't just decide to do this on a whim when I joined the forum. How did this practice originate?

Do capitalised "Z" is also an initial for something, apart of being the third letter of your username? no. It could stand for the z at the end of my username, or 'zealand', but these are both just coincidences

Do you use your username anywhere else relevant? If so, the long version? Short version? Did you at some point want to differentiate yourself from someone with the username Wiz?

Is it relevant that if you read WiZ upside down it would read ZiM?

Is it relevant that if you read WiZ upside down it would read ZiM? No, but that's nonetheless interesting. Invader WiZ.

Do you use similar practices with your other usernames?
Is this the question about why you like symetry that much? Or rather about why you like your username look symetrical?

In emails? Some kind of messaging? Gaming?

Do you use the name WiZ in this specific context? A different username? Your real name? A name/username styled similarly to WiZ?

Do you always make whatever username you are using symmetrical?

Did you capitalise certain letters of your gaming name? Make it symmetrical in some other way?

Did you stylise your gaming name because it looked good with the game's style? Because it made it easier to read? Avoided confusion?

Was your gaming username made of two parts and the first one took only two letters, like McSomeone? StSomeone? So that capitalising third letter was natural?

Is "WiZ" somehow a shortened form of your two-part gaming username? In that case, would "Wi" stand for its first part, and "Z" for second one?
Did you also shorten your gaming username in this style, taking first two letters from the first part and first one letter from the second part of the username?

I thought this may not have been a good idea when I first posted it, and I'm now more sure than ever that it wasn't.

***** SPOILER *****

I used to play online games competitively. Players would compete in teams, with their team name prefacing their gamer name on the screen.

Format-wise, the team name (usually a three-letter abbreviation) was put in square brackets. As a result, the player's names would look very similar to the way our puzzles appear on the screen, e.g.

[WtF] Wizard - for the player named 'Wizard' from team 'Witness the Fitness' (hypothetical example).

Teams would often capitalise the first and last letters of the abbreviation - often because the middle word was a preposition or conjunction, and sometimes just for the sake of symmetry.

When I started on this forum around the turn of the millennium, I would instinctively do that with the letters of my name inside the square brackets when posting a puzzle title. I've stayed with it ever since.

And now we all know. Thanks to those who dignified this puzzle with questions. I am now granting it what the pro-euthanasia lobby would call a 'death with dignity'
