Eliza = HAF?
Did she use to go to the library to borrow books? Did she also go to the library for another purpose?
Does she now read books that have been purchased from a bookstore? Books that have been purchased online (ie physical ones that are then delivered)?

Is her name the title/part of the title of a book/book series? Yope. (and to prevent confusion: Eliza is not actually the character's name)
Story Eliza is in: In a book? She does appear in one, but this is not her primary form. In a game? Ditto. In a song? Ditto.
Is she getting her books from somewhere else than the library? Irr.

Does she no longer go to the library because: it's pointless? Redundant? People won't understand why she'd do it? People will think it's a dumb or inefficient way to accomplish a relevant goal?
Improved technology: computers? Internet? Phones? Transportation? Animation? Is technology in-universe relevantly improved?

I think I was unnecessarily vague earlier, so to clarify: there is a relevant improved technology other than animating software.

*************************RECAP due to stagnancy

Because of improved technology, Eliza will never go to the library again--although she still likes books and has not substituted any other technology (i.e. a Kindle) for them.

"Eliza" is Lisa Simpson.
The library in Springfield still exists, and still has books in it.
In fact, no relevant technology change occurs within the show.
Advances in animation technology are involved, but there is another, more relevant advanced technology that hasn't been determined yet.
Background animation is relevant, as is being able to portray something that could not be portrayed before.
A little knowledge of The Simpsons may help with this puzzle, but you do not have to be caught up on the new episodes, or have seen any particular episode.

Yes, I mean the thing that couldn't be portrayed. If this thing existed in real life, would it consist of: metal? Glass? Plastic? Wood? Ceramics? Leather/skin/fur? Rubber? Bone? Plant matter? Fabric? Plant fiber? Animal fiber? Synthetic fiber? Food? Liquid? Gas? Plasma? Would it move? Make a sound? Would it need electricity? Would it be manmade? Mass-produced? Annoying?

There's an ish about saying what the something is made of, which should become clear when you find out what it is.

Would it move? Not on its own, but it could be moved. Make a sound? No. Would it need electricity? No. Would it be manmade? Yes. Mass-produced? We're saying if it was a real-world thing, independent of The Simpsons? Yes.
Annoying? The something itself, not really, though its a matter of opinion. There is an issue of annoyance that's relevant.

Would the real-world thing be a fake version of something natural? Such as a synthetic potted plant? Is the object in question: square? flat? Flexible? Clothing? A flag or banner? Is it made from cotton? Straw? Bamboo? Is it moved by wind? In the series, is this thing found: outside? In the family home? In another home? A public building?

Any of these relevant: Being able to move the whole book, with spine title, at a time as it's removed from the shelf (as opposed to redrawing everything for each frame)? How the text looks on the spine, how it looks when still on the shelf, or how it moves along with the rest of the book?
Text on the sides of objects in general?

So....fans watching the show with a HD TV can spot all the detalis, even the titles on the spine of library books, which now can be portrayed. That means a lot of work (and inventive) for the devs if Lisa should enter the library again.

**************************SPOILER

The Simpsons writers pride themselves on always having clever signage, titles, puns and even mathematical equations in the background of scenes. So when Lisa is in a library, now that the technology is available to render every book, of course they all need punny titles. In an interview with Cracked, one creator said that they spent a whole night coming up with about fifty jokes that no one would ever see, at which point they decided Lisa wouldn't be frequenting libraries much anymore (he might have been a little facetious).
