If only he had checked the weather...

Because this puzzle has been up forever, and because I don't have time to manage it, I am going to spoil it. Good job on what you guys figured out, you were super close.

Would he have done something? Not done something? Gone to a specific place? Not gone to a specific place? Did he prepare for/expect a different weather? Did an event of some kind get cancelled? Or not cancelled after all?

What weather relevant? Sunny? Rain? Snow? Hail? Windy? Cold? Hot?

Would he have done something? No Not done something? This Gone to a specific place? Not this Not gone to a specific place? Not this either Did he prepare for/expect a different weather? He wasn't thinking about the weather. Did an event of some kind get cancelled? Something important was cancelled because of bad weather. Or not cancelled after all?

What weather relevant? Sunny? Rain? Snow? Hail? Windy? Cold? Hot? Weather type is irrel. Just know it was bad.

Did he die? No Lose something? Yes Get injured? No
Something important: an event? Public? Private? Both. The cancelled event was private, but there is also a public event (this was not cancelled).
He = H? A? M? Yes

To avoid confusion, the private event is related to the public event. The private event is small scale while the public event is large scale.

Private event: a wedding? A funeral? A party? A birthday party?

Did other people check the weather? Did they avoid the private event because of that?

Can we call him Sherman?

Only certain people were able to participate in the private event, but only certain people within the private event are relevant. And no, they didnt check the weather because they didn't care.

Can we call him Sherman? The spoiler of this puzzle will be simpler if we stick to his normal name. (Sorry to reject Sherman). For future clarity in the spoiler, I will say that his name is Thomas.

Can we make his last name Sherman then? ;-D

Was the event outside? Inside? Could the event theoretically be held outside or inside?

Technically No, but to disguise the character his last name can be Sherman.

Was the event outside? The private event took place outside, but the public event is everywhere. I'll drop a hint and say that the private event was part of the public event. Inside? Could the event theoretically be held outside or inside? Again, the private event must take place outside, but the public event is more of a movement of people on a wide scale, and the private event is a small group of people taking part in the public event.

The public event takes place pretty much worldwide, and no PA systems are involved. Good Q though

HINT:The public event was an evacuation of one side of the world. The evac was not required, but highly encouraged. The private event was a group of people trying to evacuate, but only some of these people are relevant.

This is from something, but I don't want to reveal what it is unless someone guesses it because it would resolve the rest of the puzzle. It is however, not from a movie.

Is it historical? Biblical? folklorical? fictional (from a book rather than a movie)? This is fictional, and it is from a comic / book / ?, but the statements origins are irrelevant unless you want to google the story. At the end of the puzzle, I will post a link to a video that explains the extended lore of where this puzzle comes from.

Edit summary: Fixed the bold problem of the text. My response is all bold now :).

Did someone get zombified? Transmission of zombieness relevant? Did the weather cause a problem for him? If he had checked it, would he have been able to avoid the problem, had he checked the weather? Did the weather turn out relevantly: hot? Cold? Windy? Calm? Rainy? Snowy? Haily? Thunderous? Foggy? Freezing? Icy ground relevant? Ice relevant? Open water?

Did someone get zombified? Not exactly, but Transmission of zombieness relevant? Yes, both the method and who is possibly affected. Did the weather cause a problem for him? Not for him If he had checked it, would he have been able to avoid the problem, had he checked the weather? If he had checked the weather, he would not have done something that he now regrets. Did the weather turn out relevantly: hot? Cold? Windy? Calm? Rainy? Snowy? Haily? Thunderous? Although type of weather is irrelevant. Thunderous makes the most sense. I'll say it was quite windy and stormy. Foggy? Freezing? Icy ground relevant? Ice relevant? Open water? What do you mean by "Open water"? If open water is referring to the sea, ill say that the ocean is relevant.

Did Zombies get into or out of an area? No, but ONRT. Did he fail in his fight? Suffer a setback? No, he was successful in what we wanted to do. Transmission: biting? Death? Incubation period relevant? None of these Is watercraft relevant? By water craft do you mean boats? If so, yes. Good Q.
Edit: waves relevant? Waves / Wave height is relevant to the private event

Were there: large waves? Small waves? No waves? Was about unable to leave? This Did a boat tip over? Did a boat go off course? The boat diverted to a nearby settlement More than one boat relevant? Boat propulsion relevant? If so: sails? Oars? Motor? Do the relevant boat(s) fit: one person? 2-5? 6-10? 11-30? 31-100? More than 1000? Lifeboats relevant? The only thing relevant is that some relevant people were on a boat that diverted to a nearby settlement. If Thomas had checked the weather, he would not have done something he now regrets.

sorry I've been away for so long. Some stuff happening. Anyway

RECAP]
A man (named Thomas) purges the town/settlement he is in. (If I give new info, consider it a hint). He does this to try to help stop spread of the zombiesm in this area. The zombiesm is spread only through food. He requests some food for the settlement, but the supplied food was infected. The zombiesm takes a few days to set in and he decided to purge the city without waiting for the people to turn into zombies. That way they can die normal. However, before all this happened, some relevant people got on a boat and that boat had to divert to the town/settlement. If he had checked the weather, he would not have purged the city.

Was the settlement infested by zombies? possibly, read the recap/hint Did all the food at the settlement spread the zombieness? Yes

Could you please post a recap? done

The boat arrived to the town purged by Thomas, right? and didn't leave from there, right? relevant where it left from?
Is there something important on the boat (like a vaccine)? or just someone important (like the President)?
Did Thomas know about the boat (before it arrived)? did he know what was on the boat? did he know where it left from? where it should go to?

Does Thomas have the authority to purge the settlement? Does he do so on his own initiative? Relevant?

Would the weather he expected have prevented the boat arriving? Or caused it to arrive sooner or later than it did? Are carriers of the infection aboard? Food? If so, infected or non-infected? Relevant?

Were the people aboard the boat evacuating as part of the overall population shift?

Does Thomas have the authority to purge the settlement? Yes Does he do so on his own initiative? Yes Relevant? Yes

Would the weather he expected have prevented the boat arriving? The weather caused the boat to be diverted to the settlement he was watching. Or caused it to arrive sooner or later than it did? If the weather was good, the boat would not have went to the settlement Are carriers of the infection aboard? No Food? No, but this is relevant If so, infected or non-infected? Relevant? Food is relevant, who is on the boat is relevant, why he would gave delayed a city purge is relevant. I will say that he did not know the boat had arrived, or rather he didn't know WHO was on the boat.

Were the people aboard the boat evacuating as part of the overall population shift? yes

Sorry I have been gone for a while. I have been extremely busy these past few months.

RECAP: Thomas is a solider in charge of watching a settlement during a zombie crisis. Something happens with food and he decides to purge the city. Someone or rather some people that are important show up on a boat at the time he decides to purge the city. He did not know that these people were here and when the city was purged. If he knew these people were here, he would have delayed the purge or at least spared these people.

SPOILER

After hearing putting his family on a boat to safety Sir Thomas went to fight the scourge as a scarlet crusader.

In the game, one of the ways people became scourge when consuming the plagued grain. Arthas thought the solution to purge the city, sir Thomas disagreed. He and his men left to protect another town. When running low on food he received some supplies from a friend. Unfortunately, his friend was working for the scourge. When he discovered that the town was exposed, he decided Arthas was right, and decided to purge the town. When purging, he killed a woman and two children, one of which he recognized: The family he killed was his own. If he had checked the weather, he would know the ship was diverted to a town and his family was there. In his defence, the only weather source they had were mages which were few and far between, but nevertheless, if he had checked the weather this situation could be avoided.

The leader was then found to be a demon and he no longer trusted his comrades.
