[WiZ] Dēcapitāre

Postby WiZ » Thu Sep 22, 2016 4:12 am

In 1967, it began raining heads in Switzerland. People and animals alike were delighted. But what did it all mean?

Heads = actual human heads?

Raining heads = heads falling from the sky? Lots of them? Like, 100s? 1000s? more?

Were animals and people delighted for the same reasons? Did they both realize precisely what was going on?

Was the animal of which these were the heads: mammals? birds? reptiles? amphibians? mollusks? insects? worms of some sort? are they vertebrates at all?

Were the people glad they were falling from the sky because of some IMPLICATION of this? Or just directly delighted in the heads themselves?

Heads of (presumably) dead birds...are they small birds? a specific type of bird? seagulls? birds of prey? waterfowl? a mix of different types of birds?

Were the birds all killed by the same cause? killed on purpose? all at once? at different times? Were they killed while in the sky? Elsewhere? Aircraft involved? Weather or temperature relevant?

Were these birds considered songbirds? sparrows? pigeons? a domestic bird, like a chicken?

Were they all killed by humans? directly? indirectly? If humans killed them, did they intend for this rain of heads to happen? Were they dropped for a reason? or accidentally?

Did they intend for animals to eat the heads? Were the heads leftovers from slaughter? Did the rain imply to humans that a lot of chicken meat was available?

Were they dropped from an airplane? from several plans? were the people on the ground happy because the animals would eat the heads? Were the animal starving or very hungry? Were the people?

Were the heads dropped over a specific town or city? Was there a problem or issue relevant in this place that would be solved by the rain of heads?

Were the animals happy because there was a lot of free food around?
Were the humans happy because the animals ate the heads thus sparing other preys?
Was something added to the heads, like a substance to make them more tasty?
Endangered species relevant?

In 1967, there was a rabies problem in Switzerland, spread by wild foxes. To combat this, chicken heads were vaccinated and then air-dropped over the Swiss countryside. The wild foxes ate the vaccine-laced heads. The spread of the disease abated.

Well done, everyone, for your efforts. Congratulations to JumpingJacks for putting the last piece of the puzzle in place. Congratulations also to rcb for solving the entire jigsaw from the outset.
