[GalFisk] Not here, not now

Postby GalFisk » Thu Nov 03, 2016 9:48 pm

It appeared several decades late, nobody wanted it, and it was quickly disposed of.

Sounds about right for the postal service.

Is 'it' a physical thing? Had the events leading to 'it' appearing been set in motion a long time ago? Does it represent something largely intangible, like a law/policy change or paradigm shift? Is it a naturally occuring phenomenon, or was it set about by human action?

Was it a vehicle of some kind? was it a plane wreck or the like which was finally discovered years after the fact?

Was "it" a piece of something? something that attached to something else?

Is outer space relevant at all?

Some sort of monument? Is it related to Nazis?
WAG: There was a giant swastika discovered in a German forest made out of lighter-colored larch trees (though I guess they would be biological, nor was it fully 'buried' rather than 'planted'.)

WAG: There was a giant swastika discovered in a German forest made out of lighter-colored larch trees (though I guess they would be biological, nor was it fully 'buried' rather than 'planted'.) That's a clever one, but this is not it. Fun fact: the swastika is only visible for a short time in the autumn, as the trees in it yellow slightly earlier than the surrounding forest.

Is it something considered ancient? Just "old"? Neither. The related thing was old but not ancient. Was it buried underground and then unearthed due to a storm? Due to erosion? An earthquake? Another type of environmental effect? Some other environmental effect made it appear.

Is its specific location relevant? If so, LPTF list of countries?

Is its general location relevant? If so, urban/rural/suburban? Plain, forest, mountain, swamp, water feature? Was it moved at some point? Did the movement reveal it, or hide it?

Was it desired several decades before? Would it have been utilized in some way at that time? Was something else utilized in its place? Is this why it was no longer needed decades later?

Was it unique? Historically important?

Is its method of disposal relevant? If so, fire? burial? at sea? crushing? separation of pieces? Was it eaten?

Was the MT a big 'ole hole in the ground? Yes. massive piles of dirt?
SPOILER
During the WW1 battle of Messines, the British dug tunnels under the German trenches and planted massive underground mines that were later set off in unison. Some of them were lost to enemy action or no longer needed when the day came, and were abandoned.
Most of them remain underground to this day, but one exploded during a thunderstorm in 1955, killing a cow. Nobody wanted the giant crater, and it was quickly filled in so the field that got blown up could be farmed again.
Here's a short video, with photos of the aftermath: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxG12ZYm3Q8
Thanks for playing!
