(Grip) Now It's Garbage!

Postby Grip » Sun Nov 20, 2016 10:27 pm

Apparently it's worth more as trash than it is new.

Is it an object? A consumer good?

Is it somehow defective, when new? Does it contain any particularly valuable components? Does it somehow become a work of art? As trash, can it be put to some relevant use (fuel, fertiliser etc.)?

Do people pay for it, as trash?

Is it a raw material? Or is it something that is built/constructed/made? Does it really have any value when new?

Are you referring to a specific object, or to a set? ("This phone of mine" as opposed to "all phones", e.g.)

***** SPOILER *****

Several years back, Atari took a large number of their unsold 2600 games (including E.T, Defender and a few others) and had them buried in a landfill in New Mexico. Not too long ago, however, someone went to the landfill and dug up many of the games. Some of them wound up on Ebay, and I guess because of the history behind them, sold and are being sold for much more than they cost when they originally were in stores. They are also more expensive than what new old stock or still sealed copies of the same games are going for on Ebay and elsewhere.
