Did the coldness prompt Joaquin to take any relevant action? Did this action have negative consequences for Wilver?

If not taking a deliberate action, did it cause him to modify his behaviour or appearance in any relevant way?

Does their specific relationship matter? If so, are they friends? Brothers? Other family? Roommates? Co-workers? A couple?

Is Wilver mad because he sees the non-clothing something? Because he sees Joaquin with it? Because Joaquin found it? Because Joaquin broke/destroyed it? Or might break/destroy it?

WAG: Wilver just finished the next great novel, and Joaquin is crumpling up the pages and stuffing them down his pants?

Was J and W's team at bat? are J and W bench coaches? is one of them the pitching coach? hitting coach? head coach? assistant coach?
or are they field coaches (i.e. first base coach?)

Were J and W's team stealing signals?

Was the inadvertent signal given to one of the coaches on the field? a player on base? was the signal related to whether a runner that was on base should or should not try to steal?

Was J and W's team at bat? Yes are J and W bench coaches? Yes is one of them the pitching coach? hitting coach? head coach? Yes, Wilver assistant coach? Joaquin is the trainer
or are they field coaches (i.e. first base coach?)

Were J and W's team stealing signals? Not relevantly

Was the inadvertent signal given to one of the coaches on the field? a player on base? Yes was the signal related to whether a runner that was on base should or should not try to steal? Yes!

I believe that's enough for the

****SPOILER****

As recounted by Tim Kurkjian in Is This a Great Game, or What?:

To prevent a sign being stolen, managers will try the strangest things. Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa would occasionally have his trainer deliver the sign to the third base coach. Gene Mauch did the same thing with his trainer, as have many other managers, including former Pirates manager Jim Leyland.
The steal sign was the folding of the arms, but it was cold, so Pirates trainer Kent Biggerstaff folded his arms, the runner went and was thrown out.
"What are you doing?!" Leyland yelled.
"It was cold," Biggerstaff said. "I'm sorry."

Depending on whether you go by the question that produced the answer or the posting of the spoiler, this is the last solved puzzle of 2016 or the first of 2017. Happy New Year everyone.
