[WiZ] Anno Deficit

Postby WiZ » Mon Dec 19, 2016 1:57 am

A crown agency runs an ad campaign in the interest of public health and safety. As a result, many fast food retailers' profits increase. The ad is considered a success and continues to be run. Why should this be so?

I'm not familiar with the term "crown agency"; what is it? It's a public sector organisation which gives effect to government policy. It's distinct from 'the public service' inasmuch as it doesn't draft and implement the policy itself (they're also monitored by a Public service agency and the relevant minister appoints and can sack the boards/CEO). So there would typically be a 'parent' organisation such as the ministry of health, department of justice etc.

Drugs involved in the ad: medication? Street drugs? neither

Do people go eat fast food when drunk? Instead of trying to cook themselves? If so, does this count as a success?

Do people go eat fast food when drunk? Instead of trying to cook themselves? yes (for both interpretations of 'cook themselves')! If so, does this count as a success? yes (well, the success is really measured in terms of the greatly reduced occurrences of house fires and related casualties)

***** SPOILER *****

The New Zealand Fire service ran an ad campaign encouraging drunken young revellers to buy takeaways instead of going home to cook and causing fatal house fires. It greatly decreased the rate of fires and related casualties, and increased the profits of fast-food retailers.

Statistically, most house fires begin in the kitchen, and alcohol is a factor in half of them. The ad campaigns were hilarious as well, a totally candid Vox Populi with blind-drunk youth in the entertainment quarter waxing poetically about the virtues of greasy kebabs at 3 A.M (often while eating one).

Well done, GalFisk, and thank you everyone for playing.
