[Solong] Whatta way to go, Part II

Postby Solong » Tue Jan 17, 2017 5:15 pm

They had to cover up their logo for the occasion, thus losing free publicity. But one must avoid even the appearance of wrong-doing.

Would they have been accused of having a conflict of interest? Would any publicity be frowned upon?
Is what their logo depicts relevant? What their organization is?
Are they a company? A charity or activist group?

Could the logo/name be misinterpreted as something "inappropiate"? By itself or in combination with something else in the area?
Could it be misread as something else?

So the makers of the logo didn't intend for it to be on display? Or did they intend for it to be displayed but didn't have permission from the appropriate people to display it?

Wait. Did they have to cover up their logo at another event? Or at their stores? Or on their products?

Is/was the company shutting down? (Are they the ones who are "go"ing, from the title?)

Is it relevant that Trump overstates the number of people who attended his inauguration? That he had difficulty securing entertainment for it?

Mockery?Had the logo been visible, it could possibly be taken as any or all of these, depending on the POV of the viewer. It was covered, so any of these conclusions were avoided.

It was already there - is the business in question local to DC? to the area, yes. does it provide utilities for the city? No. a service? goods? To some degree, both, but leaning to 'service.'

Is the company name similar to the name of one of Trump's companies? Yope! Very much OTRT!.

Okay, sure, there is a sanitation company in D.C. whose name has either Donald or Trump on their logo and during the inauguration they covered it up as they did not want to be seen as supporting/attacking/colluding the President or making some political statement?

I'm guessing the product/service involved are portable privies? or something to do with plumbing? water fountains?

******************SPOILER*****************
One of the principal purveyors of Porta-potties in the D.C. area is 'Don's Johns,' presumably named after the founder.
By coincidence, Mr. Trump's give names are Donald John. According to the AP, the logo was covered up by order of the Architect of the Capitol, (Porta-potties are architecture?) either to avoid any appearance of conflict of interest, or to avoid the perpetuation of atrocious jokes and puns. Some hope!

The CEO of Don's Johns said all this was news to him, and he wanted 'to get to the bottom of it."

See, Grip, persistence pays! (

Of course it pays! I owe my life to it. :)

As to the Architect of the Capitol, I believe that agency is responsible for the overall look and maintenance of the Capitol in general, so their sphere of authority covers more than buildings.
