[RedWine] Getting up is always hard

Postby RedWine » Mon Jan 23, 2017 5:21 pm

There is a company that produces an ordinary product. They advertise their product on their place of business. Their advertisement is so outstanding that people who see it instantly memorize the advert and the product. However, people who see this advert are unlikely to buy the product. Explain.

Is it a product that's too expensive but the advertisement has a jolly jingle?

Lynne:

Is it a product that's too expensive but the advertisement has a jolly jingle? No. It may be considered expensive, but not more than other products in this class. And no jolly jingle, sorry.

GalFisk:

Is it most easily seen from a specific vantage point? Yes, this is relevant. Such as from the air? From a building? Vehicle? But no to these.

Was the ad placed in a way that only short people could see it properly? So most people who saw this were kids who wouldn't buy expensive adult stuff?

Is the sign made up of words? images? mixture of these?

Is the sign humorous?

Is the product related to cars?

Are people not likely to buy the product because said product is sold as part of another product that is needed for it to be useful? (for example, car air bags.)

Is the product something that the user wouldn't buy for himself/herself? Intended to be a gift?

Useful for those stuck in bed like medical equipment? Life support? Medicine? Useful for those already dead? Coffin? Burial plots? Tombstones?

Anything relating to seeing the product and therefore not needing the product? Product for the blind? "If you can read this, you don't need Product X"?

Welcome to the forum!

Is the product something that the user wouldn't buy for himself/herself? No. Intended to be a gift? No, this is not typically bought as a gift.

Useful for those stuck in bed like medical equipment? Life support? Medicine? No to these.
Useful for those already dead? Coffin? No, but keep this thought for later! Burial plots? Tombstones? No to these.

Anything relating to seeing the product and therefore not needing the product? No, but what a great thought! Product for the blind? "If you can read this, you don't need Product X"?

Does the product put you to sleep even though it isn't meant to? Does the product "put you to sleep" (metaphorically, metaphysically, figuratively)? Pet euthanasia? Human euthanasia? Drugged state? Numbing sensation? Dreams? Make you drowsy? Have unintended effects beyond it's intended effect?

Pet euthanasia? Human euthanasia? Drugged state? Numbing sensation? No to these.
Dreams? Only as a part of sleeping.
Make you drowsy? Have unintended effects beyond it's intended effect? No to these. Don't overthink this - the product is very ordinary.

Do people "rent" the product? Or some sort of other temporary ownership scenario where the product is not technically bought?

Is the product not bought because it is free?

Is the product really a service? Does it have physical form?

Are people unlikely to buy the product because they already have the product? Seeing how beds last 5-10 years...

Is the sign only visible from people who are lying in beds? And thus not needing one...

Is the ad visible from a place where people sleep in beds that are not their own? If so, a hotel? a nursing home? a boarding school? a hospital? a prison?

You said earlier that we should keep the thought of coffins for later. Does the ad reference coffins in any way?

Is the advertisement seen as terrible by people who see it (memorable as it may be)? Like "Get your final rest" being visible from a funeral home? Or "Locked into comfort" being visible from prison?

Does the ad make the product seem terrible? Like "This bed is hard to beat"? Negative words like "bug" or "stiff" or "stain"? "Bugstain's Fine Mattresses"?

Is the ad visible from somewhere where the viewers wouldn't be buying a bed? Such as in front of tourist locations (because tourists would buy a bed from somewhere back home)? Or at the top of a mountain?

Is the ad visible on a building behind a barrier such as a wall or border or river? And customers can't buy the product because of the barrier (for example, North Koreans seeing an ad in South Korea when the border is militarized and there's no imports)?

***********SPOILER*************
The sign "Comfortable wooden beds" really does not invite to make a purchase when it's seen from the entrance gate of the cemetery.
