Did he make an instruction more specific? Explain what something meant/was?
Typos relevant? Terms that could be misinterpreted?

Were these instructions verbal? Written?
Is it relevant who his audience is? Children relevant?
Is it something technical he is relaying to a layperson?

Is this a real-life incident? FYOI? FSEI? Modern-day?

Is it something along the lines of "make the track go like this"?

Did "trying to make things understandable" involve writing the instructions in more than one language?
Is he a teacher?

Mistranslations relevant? Words with more than one meaning relevant? If so, was the wrong meaning of a relevant word translated?

Did he use an online translation? or did he send the instructions to an actual human translator?

Is the specific fact that it was Google Translate relevant? Or more just that it was a less than clear translation? Would this possibly work if he had just translated a word at a time with a dictionary?

Beyond just relying on Google Translate to give him something accurate, does he relevantly make any other mistakes in the act of acquiring the translation?
Is there a problem with verb tenses? Is he trying to use the imperative form of a verb? But instead it gives him the infinitive or something?

Would the average Spanish speaker be able to figure out the instructions given enough time? Or were they completely unintelligible?
Is the problem one specific word? A phrase? The overall message of the instructions?
Do the languages have to be English to Spanish for this situation to work, or could it be any two languages?

third ****SPOILER**** in one day

I read this on a "Things I Learn From My Patients" thread which I will be using for future puzzles:

If you are going to be cool and use Google! to translate your discharge instructions into Spanish, try to pre-read what you've done, so that, when the name "Victor" is translated as "el vencedor", you don't have to feign ignorance when the patient and family ask who "the winner" is, and why the DC instructions are now incomprehensible.

Phew!
