[IrishElk] High Fidelity

Postby irishelk » Fri Mar 03, 2017 12:25 pm

I changed something to avoid a minor annoyance in my life, but it will be simple for you to figure out what it was.
Therefore, I'll ask you something harder: why did the annoyance occur one more time after I made the change?

You are a human adult male, correct? :)

Does the annoyance involve computers? LTPF related?

Does the annoyance occur at home? involve any other people?

Did you expect it to occur one more time? Did it need to occur one more time in order for the fix to be fully applied? Did you provoke the last occurrence? Could you provoke it if you wanted? Are other people involved in the annoyance? In the fix? Animals involved? Did you relevantly test the fix to see if/how it worked?

Is the annoyance something caused by yourself? By others on the forum? By the way the forum works? By something on your own computer or device?

Coming up with a subject? Writing the subject? Did your solution entail coming up with a system for naming puzzles?

Well, it seems you have puzzles prepared ahead of time when one of yours gets solved. This relevant? Do you typically prepare the puzzle statement but not the title? So you started to prepare the titles ahead of time as well? Except for this puzzle, maybe?

Is your username relevant at all? I know you changed your username upon joining the new forum.
Relevant that you've traditionally used song titles as puzzle titles?

High Fidelity is a movie that was adapted into a musical. West Side Story is a musical that received a movie adaptation.
Will you be using movie titles as puzzle titles now? Musical titles?

I've only heard a couple songs from it.

Is the annoyance directly related to your use of song titles as puzzle titles? Did you use songs you liked? Songs you've heard? Songs that had some lateral connection to the puzzle?

Is one of your movie titles also a song title? And you got that song stuck in your head?
Or did you get an earworm from West Side Story, maybe?

Is it Abre Los Ojos? And you got a song called "Open Your Eyes" in your head? Or a song with that lyric?

**************************SPOILER
Nicely done.

I used to name my puzzles after songs I like. But I get songs stuck in my head very easily, and if I saw the puzzle title for weeks or months, I wouldn't be able to get the damn thing out! So I switched to movie titles.

Frustratingly enough, one of the first ones I picked was Abre Los Ojos, not realizing that every time I saw it, it would translate to "open your eyes" in my brain. In Freddie Mercury's voice.
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies
and seeeee.....

Yeah, try getting rid of that earworm.
