Postby Earnest » Thu Feb 22, 2018 8:19 am

premising that this is a famous joke at least in Italy but I guess worldwide, I beg your perdon for the banality of the puzzle...anyway could be interesting for those of you who do not know it. So CAVEAT early spoiler and join the puzzle

Was terrorism involved? A bomb? Faulty wiring? Was the target a radio, another object, or a person? A fire? Some kind of prank or experiment that went wrong?

Toppled = tipped over/brought out of balance.
Was the bomb dropped from aircraft? Fired from a cannon? Lofted by a rocket? Floated in a watercraft? Propelled underwater? Assembled in place? Did it explode up in the air? On the ground? Underground? On water? Underwater? In space? Was it a test? An accident?
WAG 1: was it the 100 ton test (giant TNT bomb for calibrating instruments before the first atomic bomb test)? WAG 2: was it the Starfish Prime high altitude atomic bomb test, that broke electrical equipment and jammed radio transmissions?
Was no radio announcement made because: it was a secret? An embarrassment? Radio people were affected by it and unable to do their job? Radio equipment was affected? Radio transmission was affected? Radio was not invented yet? Announcement was forbidden? Prevented? Forgotten?

Did they explode something deliberately but it went wrong, e.g. the explosion was bigger than expected, or went off at the wrong time or place? Experiment? Usual bomb ingredients, or other? Number of persons who made or exploded the bomb, HAF, HAM, (list of numbers please)? Mafia involved?

How many people injured/died (list of numbers please)? Did the radio guys mistake the blast for something else, other mistake, or refuse to broadcast? Or was it to do with the person/s who set or were killed by the bomb? Is there any pun or link to fiction or a song? Was it a joke explosion? Was the reason there was no radio announcement because the explosion only existed within the joke?

Were there human casualties? Animal? Alien? Cartoon? Was this 'real life' (within the context of the joke of course)? On TV? On radio? Were names of the people who died relevant?

So you're saying there were zero human casualties? so the extra large number must be some other species? Angels? Nuclear bomb? A bomb in heaven, and no radio there? Or am I buwt?

Or am I buwt?ups sorry I simply missed that question. There are human casualities. The bomb is a real bomb coming from an airplane (please see GalFisk above). The only things to figure out are: number of victims and why the radio did not make announcements...the reasons are indeed connected one to anorher

Were the people who could've made the announcement hurt? Was the transmitter damaged? Could noone reach it? Is a specific transmitter relevant? Was the announcement not made because of: deaths? Injuries? Damage to equipment? Damage to infrastructure? Humans preventing other humans from broadcasting? Broadcast being pointless? Everyone within broadcast range being deaf from the noise? Is broadcast range relevant? Did more than 10 people die? 100? 1000? 10000? 100000? 1000000? 10000000?

Nuclear bomb?
Did everybody die? Like, everybody in the whole world? Hence there was no one to announce it on the radio, which was OK because there was no one to hear the announcement anyway? I have no idea how this could be a joke though.

Were the people who could've made the announcement hurt? Was the transmitter damaged? Could noone reach it? Is a specific transmitter relevant?no to these or irr Was the announcement not made because of: deaths?explore but aware of FA...well to be honest having seen the previous questions there is a little FA on this question anyhow...explore Injuries? Damage to equipment? Damage to infrastructure? Humans preventing other humans from broadcasting? Broadcast being pointless?this small ish Everyone within broadcast range being deaf from the noise? Is broadcast range relevant?no to these Did more than 10 people die? 100? 1000? 10000? 100000? 1000000? 10000000?relevantly no to all of these!

Nuclear bomb?no
Did everybody die? Like, everybody in the whole world?quite the opposite Hence there was no one to announce it on the radio, which was OK because there was no one to hear the announcement anyway?nice guess but no I have no idea how this could be a joke though.you will discover once solved the puzzle...keep exploring and you probably will laugh at the end!

‘Deaths’ = actual deaths or just a metaphor? Same Q ‘announced’? Same Q ‘died’? Did nobody actually die? Nobody cared? Because this isn’t real? Is it a dream? Was it a play or film?

Was one person hurt or killed?this is the most close2-3? 4-7? More? Was the target humans? yesStructures? also thisNature?this also Was the bomb comically ineffective?yes
I see from your questions a FA ...if you actually discover the FA you have the solution and the joke

Deaths’ = actual deaths or just a metaphor? Same Q ‘announced’? Same Q ‘died’? Did nobody actually die? YES!!!!Nobody cared? Because this isn’t real? Is it a dream? Was it a play or film?
no to the rest...now to figure out: why was the bomb comically ineffective?

We have a saying in the UK: "He couldn't find his own arse with both hands". It means that even if your target is your own bottom, it's really close and you're using every resource, you're so stupid or inept that you'd still fail.

So is it something like this? The plane is high up and can clearly see the massive target, the bomb is massive too, yet the bomber/s are so stupid they can't hit even a single person?

Was the bomb a real bomb? A fake bomb (in response to the fake target)?the bomb was real

Is this the legend of nazi Germans building fake airfields with wooden planes, and the English bombing one with a wooden bomb? yes...think it's time for a spoiler since details are quite hard to find out...

$POILER time...so there is an italian joke (hope the translation will be fair enough) from the old times of the war. The joke is about an aircraft bombarding a fake target on a graveyard. The radio used to make announcements every day about the count of the victims which was not necessary at all after the graveyard was destroyed. Anyway in Italy we said that instead of the radio, a TV presenter after having not heard any announcement at the end of the day, said to people:" Today no radio announcement has been made about the destroyed graveyard...well I'm quite puzzled about that...indeed...nobody has been injured but everybody are dead!
