[IrishElk] Lady and the Tramp

Postby irishelk » Sat Apr 21, 2018 1:18 pm

Beverly gave her husband Noah three things as a birthday present. Within the hour, he was arrested for her murder. He did cause her death, but a jury acquitted him. What did she give him?

Did she give three objects? Were they nice things? Were the gifts motivated by love for him? Did he intend to cause death? Injury? To do something nice? Was anyone else involved in her death?

So was it an accident?
Should we explore what evidence the police had?
Were any of the 3 items (individually or together) inherently dangerous? Potentially? Not dangerous at all? Can we call them A, B and C? Were they tangible things you can touch, e.g. rope, or an experience, e.g. flying lessons, or something else?
Did she use item A, B, C for their intended purpose? Did he? Did either of them use the items separately or together?
Are they HAM & HAF?
Could this happen in real life? Did it actually happen?

Was the jury aware of the three things Beverly gave Noah? Were the three things important in the jury's decision to acquit Noah? Is it relevant how Beverly died?

Are the 3 things actually the cause of Beverly's dead? Was Noah the murderer? Did Beverly's died for a sudden movement of Noah? For Noah havong turned off/on sonething without being conscious of the danger/without realizing it?
Did Beverly died by electroshock? Heartattack? For an injury (if so list of parts of body where the injury could have been)? Hanged? Drawn? Without possibility of breathing? Falling down from somewhere?

Was Noah passionate of a sport/somwthing in general? If so were the three things related to his passion? Did Beverly died minutes after she gave the presents to Noah? Seconds? Half an hour?Did Beverly died inmediately after giving the presents to Noah?(e.g. the presents were still wrapped and Noah was guessing what was in inside?)? Did Noah already opened them?
Did Beverly gave the presents to Noah all in one time and in the same place? One per time? If the latter, within minutes one after the other? Seconds? Relevant? Did Noah himself called the police? Relevant? Relevant Noah's passions and job?

Were the presents: connected with weapons? Kitchen/cooking related? Sport related? Music?Techonology related? Was one of the three thing necessary for the others to work? Could the 3 objects being given separately? Or do they work just if given together?

GalFisk

Did she give three objects? Yes. Were they nice things? Yope. Were the gifts motivated by love for him? No. Did he intend to cause death? Injury? Hard to answer, I'll say noish to both. To do something nice? No. Was anyone else involved in her death? No.

invisiblemimsy

So was it an accident? Noish.
Should we explore what evidence the police had? Not necessarily.
Were any of the 3 items (individually or together) inherently dangerous? Yes, one was, particularly in combination with another. Potentially? Not dangerous at all? On their own, two were not dangerous at all. Can we call them A, B and C? Sure. Were they tangible things you can touch, e.g. rope, or an experience, e.g. flying lessons, or something else? All three tangible.
Did she use item A, B, C for their intended purpose? Yope. Did he? Yope. Did either of them use the items separately or together? Both of them used all three, more or less together.
Are they HAM & HAF? Yes.
Could this happen in real life? Yes. Did it actually happen? Not that I know of, but quite possibly at some point.

Jane The Awesome Hi Jane, welcome to the LTPF!
Was the jury aware of the three things Beverly gave Noah? Yes. Were the three things important in the jury's decision to acquit Noah? Yes. Is it relevant how Beverly died? Yes.

Earnest

Are the 3 things actually the cause of Beverly's dead? They played a big role. Was Noah the murderer? Yope, DOYD of murder. Did Beverly's died for a sudden movement of Noah? Yesish, but not directly. For Noah havong turned off/on sonething without being conscious of the danger/without realizing it? No.
Did Beverly died by electroshock? Heartattack? For an injury (if so list of parts of body where the injury could have been)? Hanged? Drawn? Without possibility of breathing? Falling down from somewhere? None of these.

Was Noah passionate of a sport/somwthing in general? Yes, not a sport. If so were the three things related to his passion? Yes.
Did Beverly died minutes after she gave the presents to Noah? This. Seconds? Half an hour?Did Beverly died inmediately after giving the presents to Noah?(e.g. the presents were still wrapped and Noah was guessing what was in inside?)? No. Did Noah already opened them? Yes (though not relevant whether they were wrapped--he knew what they were before the death).

Did Beverly gave the presents to Noah all in one time and in the same place? Yes. One per time? If the latter, within minutes one after the other? Seconds? Relevant?
Did Noah himself called the police? Yes. Relevant? Yes. Relevant Noah's passions This particular one, yes. and job? No.

Were the presents: connected with weapons? No...ish. Kitchen/cooking related? Yesish. Sport related? Music?Techonology related? No to rest. Was one of the three thing necessary for the others to work? They worked together, yes, but... Could the 3 objects being given separately? Yes. Or do they work just if given together? No, they could each be a present on their own, but form a kind of set together.

Were them knives? A set of cutlery? A glass a fork and a knive? Yesish on cooking/kitchen...so os it something to eat food? To prepare food? Is Noah a barman? Did they work at a circus? Was Noah passion dangerous? Does it involve a risk? Was Noah trying his 3 objects on Beverly? Was it connected on throwing knives? (Just realize that you anweres noish to weapons...anyway I'll keep those guesses)

Is Noah's passion connected to food mainly? To science? To books? To a particular fiction/tv series/movie? To glasses? Drawing? Paint? Photography? Cleaning? Washing? Decorating? To a game involving precision? Are the three objects all the same thing of different measures? Three distinct objects but connected to the same passion (I mean e.g. a glass a plate and a fork?)?

Were the three things necessary for his passion (e.g. his passion is golfing and the things were golf clubs) or just related to his passion? Was Noah aware of the potential danger of the presents? Did Noah know how to properly use the presents?

Were them knives? A set of cutlery? A glass Yes, and... a fork and a knive? Yesish on cooking/kitchen...so os it something to eat food? To prepare food? Is Noah a barman? No to rest.
Did they work at a circus? Was Noah passion dangerous? Not typically. Does it involve a risk? Was Noah trying his 3 objects on Beverly? Was it connected on throwing knives? (Just realize that you anweres noish to weapons...anyway I'll keep those guesses) No to these. Normally none of the gifts would be considered a weapon at all, but in this case they led to a dangerous situation.

Is Noah's passion connected to food mainly? To science? To books? To a particular fiction/tv series/movie? To glasses? These are involved in his interest. Drawing? Paint? Photography? Cleaning? Washing? Decorating? To a game involving precision? No to rest.
Are the three objects all the same thing of different measures? No. Three distinct objects but connected to the same passion (I mean e.g. a glass a plate and a fork?)? Technically, no. They are all related to the passion.

Jane The Awesome

Were the three things necessary for his passion (e.g. his passion is golfing and the things were golf clubs) or just related to his passion? One is necessary, two are very helpful. I'd say almost everyone with this interest has these things. Was Noah aware of the potential danger of the presents? Yesish. Did Noah know how to properly use the presents? Yes.

Did Beverly want Noah to die? To get hurt? To leave her? Did she die from: heat? Fire? Cold? Drowning? Strangulation? Suffocation? Blood loss? Electrocution? Poisoning? Venom? Disease? Fall? Impact? Brain trauma? Bodily trauma? Shock? A pre-existing condition? Did she want to die? Did Noah relevantly want Beverly to die? To get hurt? To leave him? Was he acquitted because he acted in self defense? Because the death was deemed to be accidental? Because Beverly's actions were a large contributing factor to her death? Because someone else's actions were a relevant factor?

Did she want to die? No. Did Noah relevantly want Beverly to die? Noish, explore. To get hurt? To leave him? No. Was he acquitted because he acted in self defense? Yes. Because the death was deemed to be accidental? Not exactly. Because Beverly's actions were a large contributing factor to her death? Yes. Because someone else's actions were a relevant factor? No.

Did Noah kill Beverly in the way that Beverly was planning to kill Noah? Had Beverly given Noah the present either knowing that she could use the present to harm Noah or planning to use it to harm him? Was Noah aware what (either broadly or specifically) Beverly was going to give him as a present?

Did he switch two glasses? And yes! Nicely solved.

****************************SPOILER
She gave Noah a bottle of expensive wine and two crystal glasses, one of which was coated with cyanide!

Lucky for him, Noah grew suspicious--his wife was never this nice. She poured them each a glass and handed one to him, but when she glanced away he quickly switched the glasses. She drank, and died, confirming his suspicions.

A jury decided that it was a sort of self-defense / accidental killing, given that if she hadn't tried to kill him, his action would have been harmless.
