[invisiblemimsy] SuperDad!

Postby invisiblemimsy » Sat May 26, 2018 1:22 am

Sally was 4 years old today, and they were moving into the new house. She went to the toilet while her mum and dad were busy downstairs carrying furniture. The toilet had a big key in the lock, so she turned it… but then it wouldn’t turn back.

How did Sally’s dad rescue her? And what did she say when he told her?

Did he unlock the lock? Pick it? Break it? Disassemble it? Bypass it? Gt the key to the outside? Relevant why it wouldn't turn back? Was there an issue with the key? The lock? The way Sally was turning it? Her=she=her=Sally? He=Sally's dad? Did he tell her something through the door? After the rescue?

They were moving...= sally, mum and dad? So Sally entered the toilet, turned the key in and lock herself in the toilet right? Or did she turned in after having been exited from the bathroom (so that there was no need to save her actually)? And can we assume they moved in an apartment at the tenth floor so that there was no way to escape from the window and so on?

Was Sally locked inside the toilet? Did he (the father) want to rescue her by letting her go outside the toilet? Through the door of the toilet? Did Sally try to exit in the meanwhile? By passing through somewhere else?

GalFisk wrote:Did he unlock the lock? Yes Pick it? Break it? Disassemble it? Bypass it? Gt the key to the outside? no to all of these Relevant why it wouldn't turn back? Simply that she was 4 years old and unused to big old fashioned keys. Was there an issue with the key? no The lock? no The way Sally was turning it? yes,
she didn't have the dexterity and/or was confused by it
Her=she=her=Sally? yes He=Sally's dad? yes Did he tell her something through the door? not relevantly After the rescue? yes

Earnest wrote:They were moving...= sally, mum and dad? yes So Sally entered the toilet, turned the key in and lock herself in the toilet right? yes Or did she turned in after having been exited from the bathroom (so that there was no need to save her actually)? no... and for reference the toilet was in a separate little room from the bathroom. And can we assume they moved in an apartment at the tenth floor so that there was no way to escape from the window and so on? It was a 2 story house (ground floor and 2nd floor). The toilet was upstairs. Good Q.

Was Sally locked inside the toilet? Yes Did he (the father) want to rescue her by letting her go outside the toilet? yes Through the door of the toilet? Yes Did Sally try to exit in the meanwhile? By passing through somewhere else? No, and he told her to wait there and not worry. (Not that she could have gone anywhere).

**It seems odd that a toilet door would have a key--I've never heard of that.**

Anyway, did the keyhole go all the way through? If so, did he insert another key from the other side and push the one on her side out?

Anyway, did the keyhole go all the way through? yes If so, did he insert another key from the other side and push the one on her side out? No. That wouldn't have worked with this kind of lock and there was no other key anyway.

Did the dad first enter the bathroom? Was the dad able to rescue Sally without entering in the bathroom? Without entering in the toilet? Did he force some door? ...anyway...was Sally in possession of the key? I'm quite confused about the dynamics: she entered...the she locked herself inside the toilet...this means that she had the key inside the toilet right? So it was a matter of explaining her how to turn the key in the right way...or am I missing something? Was the keyhole/the door defective?

Did the dad ask Sally to do something a part not to move? For instance to throw the key away from the keyhole? To turn it on the opposite side? Was the door a normal door? Or like japanese doors for instance? Did it have an handle? Relevant? Were dad and daughter at a certain point close to the door on opposide sides? Did they eventually unlock the door? Use some tool to remove the key? If so some tool inside the bathroom? Outside? Was the dad able to rescue her without touching the door? By letting her pass through a narrow passage? Did the bathroom have a balcony? Was there something relevant in the toilet? If so a shower? A wc? A mirror? Relevant the job of the dad? Did he play football?

Did he unlock the door by turning the key? Did he unlock it using a tool? Did he pick it? Did he somehow reach the key? Was there a relevant window? Other opening?

Did he introduce his arm from the window and open the door? Did he enter in the toilet from the window? Was the window on the second floor? Did he enter using a ladder? Did the window belong to the toilet? Was it shared with another room? Was the window directed to the outside only? Is there relevantly an attic? Was the window easily reachable from the outside? From the inside? ...ok...WAG...was there a part of the building which was still under construction so that scaffolds (hope this is the right word) were present and for the dad was easy to reach the window using them?

Had the dad a physical support on the outside which allowed him to reach the window? Did he reach the window from the outside? Had the neighbor a balcony? Was there a relevant tree?

Keep going, you're getting warm... it is relevant to the puzzle specifically how he got in.

Outside support = a permanent one? A tool? Something that can be considered part of the building/part of the house? Did he reach the window from the above? From the below? By climbing the support? By diving from the above? Outside support = a smaller building? a roof? a vehicle? a plant? A creeper?

was there a circus n the nearby and he borrowed the stilts? (ok...too creative maybe) was there a relevant trampoline? did the dad use it?

So he climbed the drainpipe and: opened the window from the outside? Broke the window? Had his daughter open the window from the inside? Climbed in the window which was opened since before?
Did he have to climb something relevant apart form the drainpipe?

So now you just need to work out what she said, when he told her what he'd done. (Bear in mind she's only 4).

Itsy-bitsy spider relevant? Does the father instruct Sally to do something that helps him get in?

Does whatever Sally say:
-express awe?
-express disbelief?

Did Sally not believe that he climbed the drainpipe? Was her disbelief based on a misunderstanding? If so, a misunderstanding about what the father said? About the capabilities of the father? About the drainpipe?

****************$POILER*****************

When Sally locked herself in the toilet, her parents tried several ways of trying to get her to turn the key, but all in vain. In the end, her dad climbed up the drainpipe, through the window, and unlocked the door from the inside. Sally asked him how he had managed to get up to the window. He said that he climbed up the drainpipe. Sally thought for a moment then said, "But how could you manage to do that? You're too fat to fit in the drainpipe."

Thanks to everyone for playing and to jumpingjacks for the final answer!
