[Jumpingjack] Cooking Up A Storm

Postby jumpingjacks » Mon Aug 13, 2018 3:32 am

Nathan announces on Facebook that he has renovated his kitchen. This makes Sarah absolutely furious, even though she has no strong opinions on either kitchens or interior design. Why?

Does Sarah habe strong opinions on: Nathan? Facebook? Social media? The internet? Renovation? Kitchens? Money relevant? Relationship between Sarah and Nathan relevant? Did the renovation make her furious? The act of posting? Was the post true? Did Narhan know she might be furious? Did he intentionally infuriate her?

Are songs relevant? Is the biblical reference of the names relevant? Did Nathan live alone? With Sarah?
Would Sarah have been furious even though the announcement had been made on Twitter/Instagram/other social?

To be sure...were Nathan and Sarah friends on fb? Could Sarah see Nathan's posts/histories? Sarah = HAF? Nathan = HAM?
Again to be sure: "announces" = he post a sentence on fb saying that he renovated the kitchen? Did he post also pictures of the renovated kitchen? Did something appear in the pictures that made Sarah furious? If so, Sarah herself? Sarah doing something? A password? Something embarrassing?
Did someone comment on his announcement? Did this make Sarah furious? Did Sarah comment?
Relevant how Nathan announced it: with a video/tagging someone/specifying the place?

Had no one seen the announcement/ had Nathan cancelled it in 2 seconds after publication, would Sarah been furious? Is it relevant the reason why he needed to renew the kitchen? Did he make a video explaining it?

So she would have been furious also had she been the only one in the world seeing it right?
Did he make a "before-after" comparison in the pictures? Are the pictures the thing that made Sarah furious? The words he used in the post?
Can we assumed he wrote down "kitchen renovated!" simply? Did he use the words "renovated/renovation"? Did he implicitly/explicitely refer to Sarah in the post? To Sarah's kitchen? To Sarah's house?

Nathan-Sarah relation: wife and husband? Son and daughter? Cousines? Brother and sister? Friends? Collegues? Neighbours? Others? Did Sarah knew that Nathan renovated/was renovating the kitchen before he made the post on fb? If so, did she know also how the old kitchen looked like? How the new kitchen looked like? Had he renovated another room, would she have been furious as well? Did he usually make posts on fb? Relevant?

Was Sarah main cause of anger: Someone else in the house? Timing of the renovation? Comments to the picture? Appliances/other objects in the kitchen? Words in the post? Way he announced the renovation? Timing of the announcement?

Did he make an album? Published a series of pictures?

To be sure...she was furious = she was furious with Nathan right?

So mother and son right? Or step mother (is it right?)?

Did he use some emoticon in the post? Did he refer to his mother ? Did Sarah like the new kitchen? Did Nathan do it in his house? In the house of the parents? Was him relevantly a student? Parties relevant? Did Nathan make the works on his own? Delegate to others professionals? Was the kitchen completely different than the one before? Was it necessary to tear down the walls?

To be sure: can we assume that Nathan took the picture of the completely empty (a part from furniture and furnishings and appliances)?

Did he invite someone in the post (e.g. he invites friends to do a party using the new kitchen)? Did he also renew the appliances? Did he add new ones?

Did the mother agree with the decision of renovating the kitchen? Did the renovation imply something which made infuriate the mother (e.g. because he renovated she deduced that he did not want to leave his home/ not accepting a work in another town; because he renovated she understood that he had serious intentions with a girl...)?

Had N told S personally that he renovated, would she be infuriated? Did the house previously belong to someone of the family relevantly? Were there some laws that he broke by renovatong the kitchen (e.g. historical building was damaged...)? He forgot to leave the space for something relevant? Did they have other projects for the house? Did he use photoshop and post the picture to make a joke to his mother? Relevant his job? Architecture relevant?

Way he announced the renovation: did he just announce the renovation of the house? If not did he make sentences like "we begin the renovation of our nest"; "we begin the renovation to welcome our baby"...?

Is Sarah upset that he posted it for everyone to see instead of calling her, or finding some other way to tell her first? Had he relevantly told her hat he wasn’t doing any renos? Told her that the house was available or unavailable for something? Had he made up an excuse for not visiting her, that the reno announcement nullified? Did it coincide with a post she made? Did it make her look bad somehow?

History of the house relevant? Of the kitchen? No to both Did Nathan intentionally infuriate his mom at any other time? Relevant? No Was she infuriated because he had gone against a wish of hers? Yope Is Nathan's father relevant? No Other relatives? Yes, one Other people? Presumably many others saw the post, and may have their own reactions, but we can ignore them and just focus on Sarah to keep things simple.

---

Did the mother agree with the decision of renovating the kitchen? She had no strong opinions on the renovation Did the renovation imply something which made infuriate the mother Yope to noish (e.g. because he renovated she deduced that he did not want to leave his home/ not accepting a work in another town; because he renovated she understood that he had serious intentions with a girl...)? No, nothing like these

Had N told S personally that he renovated, would she be infuriated? Depends on how he told her Did the house previously belong to someone of the family relevantly? No Were there some laws that he broke by renovating the kitchen (e.g. historical building was damaged...)? No He forgot to leave the space for something relevant? No Did they have other projects for the house? No Did he use photoshop and post the picture to make a joke to his mother? No, he did renovate Relevant his job? No Architecture relevant? No

Way he announced the renovation: did he just announce the renovation of the house? Of the kitchen, yes. But there was more to it... If not did he make sentences like "we begin the renovation of our nest"; "we begin the renovation to welcome our baby"...? None of these, but keep exploring

is the age or health condition of Sarah relevant? No e.g. is there any chance she'll have a heart attack after being infuriated? No does the house belong to Nathan? Yes To Sarah? No Is any other family member relevant? Yes, one

No-ISH Told her that the house was available or unavailable for something? Had he made up an excuse for not visiting her, that the reno announcement nullified? Did it coincide with a post she made? Would Sarah be furious if the renovation was done to a bathroom or a bedroom instead? Is the skill level at cooking relevant?

Other family member: Nathan's spouse? A sibling of Nathan? Of Sarah? A child of Nathan? Did the post reveal that Nathan had withheld information from his mother? Did it make her look bad in the eyes of the third person?

Did he use the renovation metaphorically (e.g. as a renovation of his life? Implicit/explicit comparison with the previous lifestyle/house?) Was him proud of himself for having achieved this result? Did he cite his possibly humble origins (e.g. he began in a poor family but then he was able to reach that result...)? Did he move from the parents' house tp thos one? If so, can we assume that he did so recently? Relevant?

Did he say something like "no more need of my mother/other member of the family for...(doing something)"? Did he relevantly cite some specific piece of furniture (e.g. oven, microwave, kitchen tools, others...)? Did he specify that someone has chosen the furnitures and he thanked him/her for it (the mother was hence furious because he did not ask her though she was more experienced)? Did he thank someone relevantly?
Did he say something like:"with this piece of furniture the food will be better than the one cooked by my mum?"

Would Sarah be furious if the renovation was done to a bathroom or a bedroom instead? Possible, but a key factor of this puzzle wouldn't work, so let's just say no Is the skill level at cooking relevant? No

Were they relevantly temporarily unable to cook during the renovations? Had they treated Sarah to a meal they claimed was home-cooked, but the post revealed that it could not have been? Did Sarah feel deceived? Cheated? Made a fool of? Ignored? Overruled? Jealous? Did Eliza know Nathan wanted to infuriate Sarah? If so, did she approve?

Did Sarah did something relevant to make Nathan want to infuriate her as a retaliation?
Did Sarah think that the kitchen would not be renovated at all, or would be renovated in a different manner?
Was she furious the kitchen (or the oven) was not repurposed into something she expected?
Was there an oven before the renovation? How about after? If an oven was present both before and after, was it replaced with a new one? Repaired?

So they used oven to cook a particular food right? And they served it to the mother? Did they heat up something which melt? Did they always ask the mother to cook things on oven in order to spare electricity / energy? Did they pretend not to be able to use the oven? To cook food?

Had Nathan told Sarah that Eliza had a bun in the oven? Yesish/yope Was Sarah upset about having a grandkid? About not having one? Yes Was the post also a pregnancy announcement? A prank pregnancy announcement? Yes!

It's trebor for the win!

************************ SPOILER *************************

Inspired by a story I read on the internet.

Nathan and Eliza are making plans to renovate their kitchen. Nathan decides this is a good time to play a prank on his family and friends; he and Eliza take a picture of themselves looking at a bit of dough in the oven, and once the renovations are done, he posts this picture on Facebook with the caption, "We have some exciting news to share...stay tuned!!!"
The "bun in the oven" clearly alluded to an upcoming pregnancy announcement, and when Nathan's mother sees it, she gets very excited. She asks Nathan for clarification, but he remains coy, only saying that all will be revealed soon. But Sarah is convinced -- they'd as good as said they had a bun in the oven, after all! She starts preparing for her first grandchild, tells her friends that she's about to become a grandma, starts thinking about baby clothes, showers, everything.
A few days pass, and Nathan writes another post - "Exciting news! The renovations are complete; welcome to our new kitchen!" In the accompanying picture, he and Eliza are beaming in the kitchen, and a freshly baked loaf of bread sits on the counter. Needless to say, Sarah is absolutely furious.

Thanks for playing everyone -- Earnest, Wolfier and Galfisk, and congrats to trebor for the leap!
