[gregoryuconn] Till Death Do Us Part

Postby gregoryuconn » Thu Sep 20, 2018 10:47 am

A woman proclaims her intent to commit suicide to a complete stranger who she has never met before, despite the fact that she has no such intent. Why?

Is the declaration anything besides "I'm going to kill myself!"
Does she say the word "suicide"?
Is her mood or state of mind relevant? Is she angry? Sad? Depressed?
Does the woman have any interest in getting a response from the stranger? A reaction?
Did she seek out this person to say this to? Or was this person just the nearest person to her when she was ready to say the words?
Is the location in which this takes place relevant?
Has the woman ever done this before?
Does the stranger recognize the woman?
Before the woman says she wants to commit suicide, had she said anything else to this other person?
Is anyone else around besides the woman and the stranger?
Is the time of day relevant?
Does the woman plan to say anything else to this stranger? To another stranger? To more than one?
Is she actually planning to end her life? Is she making a joke? Is she simply speaking out of total exasperation?

Does she make her proclamation in order to stop the stranger from committing suicide? Or to stop him/her from doing something else? Same Q's to cause instead of stop. Woman = HAF, stranger = HAM etc? Is this on Earth, present day? Theatrical? Real life?

[hanging? by impact (e.g. banging head on wall)? by drowning? by a bullet?]
Method/s = poison, running in front of a train/other vehicle, jumping from height e.g. cliff, hot air balloon, aeroplane, cutting wrists or other body part, drowning, asphyxiation, use of a gas e.g. helium, carbon monoxide, lethal dose of barbiturate or other medicine, weapon eg. bullet or other projectile, sword etc...

Does she have anything in common with this stranger? Was she supposed to meet him or be introduced to him for some reason? Was their meeting random? Were their clothes or occupations relevant? Does it matter what they were doing at the time? Were others present?

did she claim she will kill herself by hanging? by impact (e.g. banging head on wall)? by drowning? This is closest, no to rest. by a bullet?

Is the declaration anything besides "I'm going to kill myself!" Yes.
Does she say the word "suicide"? Irrelevant.
Is her mood or state of mind relevant? Is she angry? Probably, but this isn't the main emotion. Sad? Depressed? No to the other two.
Does the woman have any interest in getting a response from the stranger? A verbal response? No. A reaction? Yes.
Did she seek out this person to say this to? No. Or was this person just the nearest person to her when she was ready to say the words? Yope.
Is the location in which this takes place relevant? Yes.
Has the woman ever done this before? Assume no.
Does the stranger recognize the woman? No.
Before the woman says she wants to commit suicide, had she said anything else to this other person? Possibly, if so irrelevant.
Is anyone else around besides the woman and the stranger? No.
Is the time of day relevant? No.
Does the woman plan to say anything else to this stranger? To another stranger? To more than one? No to all.
Is she actually planning to end her life? No. Is she making a joke? No. Is she simply speaking out of total exasperation? No.

Does she make her proclamation in order to stop the stranger from committing suicide? No. Or to stop him/her from doing something else? Yes. Same Q's to cause instead of stop. She wanted him to stop doing what he was doing and do something else. Woman = HAF, stranger = HAM etc? Assume yes. Is this on Earth, present day? Assume yes. Theatrical? Real life? It was told to me as a true story, but may be apocryphal.

[hanging? by impact (e.g. banging head on wall)? by drowning? by a bullet?]
Method/s = poison, running in front of a train/other vehicle, jumping from height Yope e.g. cliff, hot air But neither of these. balloon, aeroplane, cutting wrists or other body part, drowningAgain, this is closest., asphyxiation, use of a gas e.g. helium, carbon monoxide, lethal dose of barbiturate or other medicine, weapon eg. bullet or other projectile, sword etc... No to rest.

Does she have anything in common with this stranger? No. Was she supposed to meet him or be introduced to him for some reason? No. Was their meeting random? DOYD Were their clothes or occupations relevant? No, except svv of "occupation" for him. Does it matter what they were doing at the time? Yes. Were others present? No.

Are they at a high altitude where air is thin? Does she say she's going to strangle herself? Is she trying to scam the stranger? Is the stranger assaulting her?

Did she say she was going to leap from a height into a body of water? Yope

Are they at a high altitude where air is thin? No. Does she say she's going to strangle herself? No. Is she trying to scam the stranger? She's trying to mislead him, I wouldn't call it a scam. Is the stranger assaulting her? No, but OTRT

Is the stranger a police officer? No. Another kind of law enforcement? No. A famous person? Assume no, but this puzzle would work if it was.

If she were to do what she says she is going to do would his life be in danger?

WAG, but is she driving? And he is attempting to enter her vehicle (or has kidnapped her) and she threatens to drive the vehicle off a bridge?

Assuming it’s not that, would she drown(ish) in water? Another liquid? With a pulmonary edema it can feel like you’re drowning; while I’m slightly foggy on why I’m thinking there must be a method of suicide that could cause something similar, I’m going to ask anyway if it’s drowning like that. Is it? On the off chance it’s not, would she drown in a bathtub? Pool? Lake/river/steam/ocean, etc.? Industrial vat? By choking?

WAG, but is she driving? And he is attempting to enter her vehicle (or has kidnapped her) and she threatens to drive the vehicle off a bridge? Pretty much, yes. Close enough for a

*****SPOILER****

As the story was told to me, when the woman was sitting at a red light, the man opened her unlocked front passenger door, got in the car, pointed a gun at her head, and said "drive." The woman, clever lady that she was, immediately began to drive like a bat out of hell while breaking down in tears and saying "Thank you, thank you, thank you." The carjacker was understandably confused as to what she meant, and asked her why she was saying that. She replied "Well, I was on my way to drive my car off the bridge, and now I see the Lord has sent me a partner to escort me to Him." She then stopped the car at a red light, and the would-be carjacker opened the passenger door and ran away as fast as he could.
