So...
There were three.
One won.
Two's was the only one, but the wanted to take it away from him.
Three was the theft of all the Ws.

Is it relevant that it's in ALL CAPS?

Yes. (Although THEY wanted...)

Are One, Two, and Three individuals? H/A/M?
The stolen W's: the letter W? Or is the W short for something? Perhaps "win"? Any "big W's" relevant?

Don't suppose there are any father stabbers around?

Is it a riddle? Keyboards relevant? Qwerty?Relevabt what One won? A competition? Could two or three have been the winner?

To recap: there were three --> there were 3 entities? 1, 2 and 3?
One won. --> was 1 the winner among 1 2 and 3?
Two's was the only one, but they wanted to take it away from him. -->2 was the only one means that 2 was the only one having something that someone wanted to take away? The w? (Two is the only one having a w in inside...) Or 2 was the only 1?
Three was the theft of all the Ws.

Could the puzzle work with a sign? With a billboard? With the sentences I am doing? Is it sufficient to throw away the ws? Are anagrams relevant? Three as "there"; one as Neo...? Criterion to win: be the shortest in letters? Being the smallest in value? Having specific letters? Alphabetic order relevant?

Earnest wrote:Is it a riddle? Not sure what you mean by this. Keyboards relevant? YES Qwerty?Relevabt In the sense that keyboards were involved, yes what One won? A competition? Yes, you could call it that Could two or three have been the winner? no

To recap: there were three --> there were 3 entities? 1, 2 and 3? Only 1 was a person/entity. 2 and 3 were not entities, although people were involved.
One won. --> was 1 the winner among 1 2 and 3? No, OTWT.
Two's was the only one, but they wanted to take it away from him. -->2 was the only one means that 2 was the only one having something that someone wanted to take away? You could put it that way but it's more the other way around: Two had something unique. They wanted it. The w? Yes (Two is the only one having a w in inside...) No/irrel Or 2 was the only 1? Two had the only W.
Three was the theft of all the Ws. Indeed.

Could the puzzle work with a sign? A sign was involved, for SVV of 'sign'. With a billboard? No With the sentences I am doing? No Is it sufficient to throw away the ws? No Are anagrams relevant? no Three as "there"; one as Neo...? so no Criterion to win: be the shortest in letters? Being the smallest in value? Having specific letters? Alphabetic order relevant? none of these, but the type/criterion of win is fundamental.

Winner = is the amount of W relevant to win? Was 1 part of a competition? If so, were also the individuals involved in 3? And the individual involved in 2? Relevant the names of the individuals? Keyboard relevant --> is also a display involved? Like in a PC? In a phone?

criterion of win = stealing the higher number of Ws? If so, way of stealing the Ws relevant? Is the keyboard on a touch screen? Or is it a "tangible" keyboard with keys and so on? Is the W a key? Relevant that W is M reversed?

Names of 1 and 2 both contain Ws? One W? More than two Ws? Possible names for 1 and 2: William? Stewie? Edward? Wilma? Wally? Stewart? Others? Are names fictional? Are blog bames? Surnames? Nicknames? First names? W is a key...were there more than one keyboard? One for each competitor? Is typing on the keyboard per se relevant? Is the competition based on speed?

WAG --> is finding a nickname/username on a blog relevant? Something like there was one more name available with the W and the first one typing its name with W would have not allowed the others to use the same name with the W?

Is the group of people in three needing Ws?
Are people in two and three judges? Public? Passers? General people? Are keys used as an object per se? Like they were glued somewhere else? They were used to form words? Ws were used in combination with other letters? Are names of associations relevant? Like WWF? Or web domain WWW?

Is one involved in a spelling competition? Is pronuntiation relevant? Like some sort of silent letter?
Does the competition involve: choosing a nickname? An original one? Using Ws? Is the aim of the competition to: form words? Use letters?

are key other than "W" pressed? Used to type on a keyboard? Was there a display? If so was the public able to see it? Can we assume "three was the theft of all the Ws" as "three has stolen all the W keys from the keyboards"? Or "three does not allow one and two to use Ws"? "three does not allow one to use Ws"? "three does not allow anyone to use Ws"? Are keys giant keys on the street? (e.g. you know those big pianos put on the ground and played by jumping on them?) Something similar? Is dancing involved? Movements? Guitar hero? Wii? A game?

If the latter are "yes" or "explore", do general people (three) place themselves onto a key physically not allowing competitors to jump on it/press it?

The keys are simply W keys on computer keyboards. There is nothing unusual about the keyboards, except they are missing their W's, due to removal by group 1.

Oh well so may I ask a recap please?
1 removed the W keys from the keyboard
1 won a competition in which neither members of 2 or 3 participate
3 stole the W keys
Is this the order? Is the removal of the W keys relevant because in that way they cannot be typed? Or for other reasons to be discovered?

And is something like setting a username? Is wi-fi relevant?
Has the keys been removed for security reasons? To avoid something to happen? For the competition?

3 stole the W keys Yes, 3 both removed the keys and stole them.
Is this the order? The order is either 1,2,3 or 1,3,2 but it doesn't matter which. Is the removal of the W keys relevant because in that way they cannot be typed? It's true they can't be typed, and that is a nuisance, but it's not the reason Or for other reasons to be discovered? yes, one reason.

And is something like setting a username? Is wi-fi relevant?
Has the keys been removed for security reasons? To avoid something to happen? none of these For the competition? Not FOR the competition; more as a result of the competition.

Are just the W keys removed? Are they stolen and then reused as keys by 3? Have the W keys some sort of value? Monetary value? Is gaming relevant?
Does the competition involve letters? Numbers? Combination of both? Random extractions? Games? Strategic games?
Have the W keys been pressed by competitors? Do W keys indicate something in the competition? A location? A special command? Others? Can we asssume that the W keys were identical to all the other keys apart from the letter printed?

Sooo... Recap:

1 was George W. Bush (aka 'Dubya'). He won the election.

2 had the only one of something relevant, and they wanted to take it away from him, CLUE: to give it to Dubya.

3. Lots of staff removed the W keys from the White House computers in protest, some of which were stuck up around the corridors etc. and some just thrown away.

Car? Truck? Bicycle? Motorbike? Boat? Other water vehicle? Land vehicle? Rail vehicle? On one vehicle? Did they want to give Dubya the right to use W on the same type of vehicle? On another vehicle? On another thing?

On the side of the car? On a vanity plate? A sign on the roof? A bumper sticker? On the hood? As a hood ornament?

*********************************$POILER*********************************

W #1
20th Jan 2001. George W Bush (aka ‘Dubya’) won the presidential election by the narrowest of margins - 537 votes after a recount.

W #3
Thousands of people protested in the streets, and many of Clinton’s staff removed the W keys from the White House computers.

W #2
Warren Davis owned the only single letter ‘W’ vanity number-plate in NY state. A few days after the election he got a letter telling him he must surrender his plate so Dubya could have it. He refused, but was told he had no choice - despite the fact that the plate was legally his for life, so long as he renewed it every couple of years, which he did religiously. In the end, he sued and won, so yah boo and sucks* to Dubya!

Well done to Galfisk for the $poil, and to Balin, Earnest and Westing1992 for taking part :D
