Can the crowd see Paul while askubg it? Also what he was wearing? Did he expect a certain answer? Was Paul on a stage? In front of publoc? In the middle of a square? Does Paul actullay see what he was wearing? Does he mean to know what he was wearing in general (pants, t-shirt, curdigan...)? Which were his clothes. Or what he was wearing on a specific part of his body? The back?

P.s. Paul is of course a random nameright? ;p

Is Paul’s profession relevant? If so, is he wearing something pertaining to it?

Is he actually asking then what he’s wearing? Is wordplay occurring? Is he challenging someone in the crowd? (Like, someone implies he’s dumb and Paul says, “Do I have a ‘stupid’ sign on my forehead?”, or someone questions whether he’s a doctor and Paul says, “Am I wearing a stethoscope?”)

Was Paul blind? Was he trying to make a point of some sort? Or did he legitimately want to know what he is wearing?

Also, just to be sure, he = Paul, right?

Does it matter what kind of performance it is? Play, pantomime, musical, comedy, other? Does he want the audience, or a person in the audience, to answer him? Is it rhetorical? Does it matter to the puzzle what, in fact, he is wearing? Is it a costume? Should we establish what his outfit is? Is he nude? Is he pretending to be nude? Is he pretending to wear clothes of a certain kind? Is he an entertainer? Relevant what kind? Is he saying something like, "What AM I wearing? (eyeroll)?" Is he cross-dressing? Sexuality relevant? Is he in disguise?

Had Paul planned to ask this question? Or did something spontaneous occur which then prompted him to ask?
Is the question part of a planned sequence? If so, one that is unique to this audience? Or one that was put together for multiple audiences?
Is Paul asking the question in order to call attention to his clothes? To ensure that audience members make note of something he is wearing?
Is any article of Paul's clothing more relevant than others? The most relevant?
Does Paul plan to change clothes at some point? Appear in a different set of clothes?

Does Paul plan to change clothes at some point? Appear in a different set of clothes? YES, and you're now one step from the answer

Is he about to do a magic trick where his clothes suddenly change? or, alternately, is he making a point about how easy it is to fool people, by calling the audience's attention to something about his clothes that many of them didn't notice?

****SPOILER****

During the opening of professional pickpocket Apollo Robbins' TED Talk on "The Art of Misdirection," Robbins asks the audience what he is wearing, to note how one can notice something but not observe or remember it. At the end of the talk (which includes a demonstration of his skills on an audience members), he asks the audience again, because he is now wearing a different shirt and no tie, demonstrating the same point as before.
