[Balin] W.C. feels

René and his friends go to a local bar at the end of each day. For two weeks, whenever one of the group goes to use the bathroom, everyone else in that bathroom runs out screaming ten seconds later. This does not happen before or after those two weeks. Why?

Is the reaction of the toilet patrons (I don't think I've used that phrase before) spontaneous? Is it driven by genuine fear, disgust etc?

Is this an act of some sort? Is there some pre-arrangement?

Is the time of year relevant? Is it connected to a particular season, holiday or event?

Is there some relevant aspect to Rene or his friends that prompts this behaviour? Do they perform any action that prompts this response (other than standard toilet activities?)

Are Rene & co. ever cautioned or confronted about this? Could they change circumstances so this doesn't happen? Are they even particularly bothered that this is going on?

Would this happen at any bar? Is something relevant happening at the local bar? An event? Renovations?

Are René and his friends scary in some way during those two weeks? Are they dressed up?

Is it relevant that they go every day?

Relevant that it's ten seconds later? Could this work with five seconds? Fifteen seconds? Are there renovations going on in the bar restrooms? Elsewhere in the bar?

Are they screaming because they're.... Scared? Disgusted? Jubilant? Have the screaming running toilet patrons finished their toilet business? Are they taking a number one? Taking a number two? Washing their hands? Relevant? This isn't even the first time I've invoked the LTPF list of things you could do in a bathroom....

Are Rene and his friends all H/A/M? Are they all using the gender-appropriate bathroom?

WAG: Are “bathroom bills” like the one in North Carolina in any way relevant?

Fear of: death? Injury? Legal trouble? Financial trouble? Of something disgusting? A crime? An animal? Do they become afraid when they: see something? Hear something? Smell something? Superstition relevant? Relevant that it takes ten seconds? Do they scream in order to: express terror? Warn others? Ward off the danger?

Fear of: seeing someone naked? Seeing someone's private parts? Is their (Rene&Co.) clothing relevant? Do they want people to be scared?

Relevant when during the year these two weeks fall? Would the screaming happen again during those two weeks the next year? Did the screamers think Rene and his friends were female? Relevant that Rene can also be a woman's name?

Do also women scream of fear? Or just men in the bathroom?is a joke involved? Relevant thet this happens in bathrooms? Relevant how WC are made? Squat toilet? Ordinary wc? Were the wc separated by doors? Other types?

Does it happen with anyone of the group going to the bathroom? Is the one going alone? With the others? After the ten seconds, does people scream for a lot of time (more than 2 min)?
Blood relevant?
Are the 2 weeks a relevant period? Like blueberry period giving a red coloration to urine? Relevant how many of them were in the group? 15? Strangers in the pub for 15 days? Something happening for 2 weeks only? An event? A natural event? Is wine relevant? Masks relevant? KKK? Black and white bathrooms? Did they go to the bathroom intentionally to scary people? Could it happen that they do the same thing with the same person or that the same person is scaried twice by that same thing? With routine customers?

The fact that it did not happen before = because they did not want it to happen? Because there were no people to be scared? Because there was not the something that allowed them to scary people? Is gas relevant? Are smells? Fire? Drainage system? Liquids? Heat? Cold? Ghosts? Out of ordet toilets? Scarcity of water (and hence for instance impossibility to flush in the toilet)? Works in progress? Reparations?

is a joke involved? No
Relevant thet this happens in bathrooms? Yes
Relevant how WC are made? Yes Squat toilet? Ordinary wc? Men's bathroom, so urinals Were the wc separated by doors? Assume No Other types?

Does it happen with anyone of the group going to the bathroom? Yes Is the one going alone? Presumably With the others? After the ten seconds, does people scream for a lot of time (more than 2 min)? As long as it takes to scream and run out of the bathroom - probably less than a minute
Blood relevant? No
Are the 2 weeks a relevant period? Yes Like blueberry period giving a red coloration to urine? OTRT! Relevant how many of them were in the group? No 15? As good a number as any Strangers in the pub for 15 days? No Something happening for 2 weeks only? Yope An event? For a broad definition of "event" A natural event? No
Is wine relevant? Masks relevant? KKK? Black and white bathrooms? No to these
Did they go to the bathroom intentionally to scary people? No, but once it happened the first couple times, they expected it would scare people and found it funny Could it happen that they do the same thing with the same person or that the same person is scaried twice by that same thing? Theoretically With routine customers? Yes

The fact that it did not happen before = because they did not want it to happen? Because there were no people to be scared? Because there was not the something that allowed them to scary people? This
Is gas relevant? No Are smells? Fire? Drainage system? Liquids? This alone Heat? Cold? Ghosts? Out of ordet toilets? Scarcity of water (and hence for instance impossibility to flush in the toilet)? Works in progress? Reparations?

So is it discoloured urine that is the cause of the fear, then? Is the discolouration caused by something they drank? Ate? Beets? Something they otherwise ingested? The two-week period is making me think of a prescription medication. Is it that? Do they all have the same profession? If so, is it relevant?

So is it discoloured urine that is the cause of the fear, then? More than just discoloration... Is the discolouration caused by something they drank? Ate? Beets? Something they otherwise ingested? No to all The two-week period is making me think of a prescription medication. Is it that? Again, very close! Do they all have the same profession? Yes, for svv of "profession" If so, is it relevant? Yes

Dietary regime relevant? Do they all follow the same one? To be sure: are we talking about their urine? In contrast with urine belonging to people with diseases (e.g. they worked in an hospital). Transparent urine? Is the urine color relevant? ...well actually I was thinking also about something like urine melting ice (ice found in the pub) and producing the evaporation smoke or vice versa urine becaming solid for ice/other chemical reactions. But this does not explain the limited period of time...

Are optical illusions relevant? Is it relevant the time of the day in which they go to the bathroom?
So...urinals are close to each other right? My question is: can we assume that, were there just a member of the group and another person in the bathroom, the other person gets scaried even if without looking at the urinals of the memeber of the group if in a close urinal or even if he is in a distant urinal?

Dietary regime relevant? No Do they all follow the same one? No
To be sure: are we talking about their urine? Yes In contrast with urine belonging to people with diseases (e.g. they worked in an hospital). No, it is their own urine
Transparent urine? No Is the urine color relevant? Yes, see below
...well actually I was thinking also about something like urine melting ice (ice found in the pub) and producing the evaporation smoke or vice versa urine becaming solid for ice/other chemical reactions. But this does not explain the limited period of time... Clever idea - I wouldn't have thought of that at all - but it's not the answer

Are optical illusions relevant? No Is it relevant the time of the day in which they go to the bathroom? Yes - night
So...urinals are close to each other right? Probably My question is: can we assume that, were there just a member of the group and another person in the bathroom, the other person gets scaried even if without looking at the urinals of the memeber of the group if in a close urinal or even if he is in a distant urinal? Is the color of the fluorescence relevant? Relevant why the dye is there? Why it's fluorescing? Are there black lights in the loo? Blue lights that hinder IV drug users from seeing their veins?

Are they undergoing a medical procedure? Yes Experiment? Test?

I think that's all the pieces - y'all whipped through this one.

****SPOILER****

René and his friends are medical students studying ophthalmology. As part of their training, they have to inject themselves with sodium fluorescein, which helps with seeing the blood vessels in the back of the eye for certain types of diagnoses. Sodium fluorescein is excreted in urine, and glows under a blacklight. So when the students go to the bar (which, like many '70s bars, is heavily blacklit) at the end of the night and head to the bathroom, the unexpecting patrons run out screaming.

Nicely done.
