[CoffeeBean] She's A Pirate

Postby CoffeeBean » Wed Mar 06, 2019 3:52 pm

A woman did something in 1983 that would later cause her and a small group of people to be in a remote part of the world together. If she's still alive a few years from now, there's a good chance she will be with a larger group of people in a well populated part of the world. So what did she do?

Are they in the remote area: because they can? By accident? For science? Espionage? War? Fun? Scouting? Are people from the small group, apart from her, part of the large group?
WAG: did she become an oil or minerals scout, find some valuable resources in a remote area, and the remote area eventually became well populated and accessible because if the mining/drilling jobs?

The fun of: travel? Overcoming obstacles? Beating a record? Being the first humans somewhere? Being some other kind of pioneer? Being together? Being away from everything? discovering something? Is the place at a relevantly high altitude? Latitude? Is the climate of the place relevant? If so: hot? Cold? Dry? Wet? Windy? Disaster-prone?

The fun of: travel? This, yes... Overcoming obstacles? Beating a record? Not these
Being the first humans somewhere? Not the first, but OTRT Being some other kind of pioneer? OTRT
Being together? Yes Being away from everything? No discovering something? In a way, yes
Is the place at a relevantly high altitude? Not at all Latitude? This is relevant, yes
Is the climate of the place relevant? No If so: hot? Cold? Dry? Wet? Windy? Could be any of these at one time or another Disaster-prone? Possibly, but not likely while these people are there
Did they get there by: walking? Partly Climbing? No Driving? Partly Flying? Partly Sledding? No Riding? Yes

Is Area 51 relevant? Aliens? Legends?

Remote part of the world = well populated part of the world in the future? Is demography relevant? Tribes? Natural resources?
Group of people = related to her? Friends? Relatives? People curious about what she did in 1983? Did the group of people follow her in the remote place years later? Did she establish herself in the remote place in 1983? Was anyone aware of what she did in 1983?

Was the place untainted before what she did in 1983? Was there just nature? Animals?
Was the remote place the place where she was born? E.g. she gave birth to someone who became famous and attracted lots of followers so that many people transferred to the remote place to see him or her /stay with him or her? Is religion relevant? Archeology? History? Culture?

"A woman did something in 1983" = she discovered something/a place/a tribe? She build something? She hide something?

Does the remote place have relevant unique charachteristics? If so, natural ones? Temperatures? Animals? Mountains? Rivers? Canyons? Ice? Plants?

Is the place at a relevantly low altitude? I'd say not Is it a valley? Cave? Mine? Bunker? None of these
Is it an abandoned place? No Is it in Europe? America? Neither Is it far north? South? Yes, somewhat south

Is Area 51 relevant? Aliens? Legends? None of these

Remote part of the world = well populated part of the world in the future? No Is demography relevant? Tribes? Natural resources? No to these
Group of people = related to her? Not likely Friends? Relatives? Either of these could be involved, but there is a more appropriate word for the group People curious about what she did in 1983? Not curious but you're on the right track
Did the group of people follow her in the remote place years later? In a way, yes
Did she establish herself in the remote place in 1983? No Was anyone aware of what she did in 1983? Yes

Was the place untainted before what she did in 1983? Yes...and also afterward Was there just nature? Animals? Both
Was the remote place the place where she was born? No E.g. she gave birth to someone who became famous and attracted lots of followers so that many people transferred to the remote place to see him or her /stay with him or her? Not this
Is religion relevant? Archeology? History? Culture? <-- "Culture" is closest

"A woman did something in 1983" = she discovered something/a place/a tribe? She build something? She hide something? None of these

Does the remote place have relevant unique charachteristics? It has one unique characteristic, yes If so, natural ones? Yes
Temperatures? Animals? Mountains? Rivers? Canyons? Ice? Plants? None of these

Is this a game of Civilization? No

So thing she did in 1983 was in the remote place and the remote place is not the place that will become well populated right?

Did she take a relevant picture? If so from the above? Is the place easy to reach? Are ancient remains relevant? Are people following her experts in a field? If so: biology? Chemistry? History? Geology? Geography?
Is there a relevant substance in that place?

Was the woman influencial? Famous? A politician? A scientist? A writer? Are borders relevant? May I invoke the list of States in which the plave find itself? Is it an island? Does it belong to any state? Are optic illusions relevant? Bermuda relevant?

So thing she did in 1983 was in the remote place No, it wasn't and the remote place is not the place that will become well populated right? Right, this place will never become "populated" as we usually define "populated"

Did she take a relevant picture? She probably didn't, but others likely did If so from the above? Yes Is the place easy to reach? By a certain method, yes Are ancient remains relevant? No Are people following her experts in a field? Not likely
If so: biology? Chemistry? History? Geology? Geography? None of these sciences are directly related, but you may want to explore further
Is there a relevant substance in that place? Yes

Was the woman influencial? To a degree, yes Famous? Yes A politician? A scientist? A writer? None of these
Are borders relevant? No May I invoke the list of States in which the place find itself? Yes, but... Is it an island? No
Does it belong to any state? ...no, it doesn't Are optic illusions relevant? Not exactly but something very close to this idea
Bermuda relevant? No

Does what she did cause them to go to this place in particular? Or could it have led to other remote places? Non-remote places? Does what she did have anything to do with this remote place? With remote places in general? With methods of travel? Did what she did take luck? Skill? Work? Random chance? Did she know it could lead to this trip? Did she want it to?

Does what she did cause them to go to this place in particular? No, not them...
Or could it have led to other remote places? Yes, and may have done so in the past or might do so in the future Non-remote places? Yes, very much so Does what she did have anything to do with this remote place? Yes, it's directly related With remote places in general? No
With methods of travel? No Did what she did take luck? No Skill? Work? Yes to both Random chance? No
Did she know it could lead to this trip? Did she want it to? GOOD Q - I'm sure she either suspected this at the time of her accomplishment, or learned soon afterward that such trips would involve her

Does the large group assemble in order to celebrate? Relevant for how long the small group stays in the remote place? Did she do the thing in 1983 as part of her profession? The trip to the remote place? Is her role in the small group different from the other participants? In the big group? Is there a big chance she will not be alive a few years from now? Is she old?

Does the large group assemble in order to celebrate? Not primarily, although some of them may do this
Relevant for how long the small group stays in the remote place? Yes, this may prove very helpful
Did she do the thing in 1983 as part of her profession? Yes
The trip to the remote place? No, she didn't do this in 1983
Is her role in the small group different from the other participants? In the big group? Yes to both, her primary reason for being there is much different than everyone else in both groups
Is there a big chance she will not be alive a few years from now? Is she old? She's almost 70 years old now, so her age and one other factor affect the chances of her being with the group in a few years

Did she make the trip to the remote place as a part of her profession? Will the large group still assemble if she's dead? Did they stay in the remote place for: hours? Days? Weeks? Months? Years? Did all participants stay for the same period of time? Was the stay shared with the world somehow? If so, through radio? TV? Photos? Video? Stories? Internet? Did they go to the remote place during the 80's? 90's? 00's? 10's?

Was the stay shared with the world somehow? Yes If so, through radio? TV? Possibly this
Photos? Video? Both of these for sure

Solar eclipse? Lunar eclipse? Total eclipse? Is this eclipse only visible from out in the ocean? Is the chance better to get a good view there? Would they move the boat according to weather forecasts in order to guarantee a clear sky? Will the larger group assemble to see another eclipse that's visible in a well populated place?

Did what she did in -83 relate to cruises? Eclipses? Astronomy? Oceans? This particular eclipse? The idea of going to sea to see an eclipse?

One specific thing about it: where it was? When it was? For how long it lasted? Did the path of totality not cover any land at all? Were the people on the ship the only people to see the total eclipse?

Are other eclipses relevant besides the one seen from the cruise and the one coming in the future? Was there a relevant eclipse in -83? Is her work scientific in nature? Religious? Superstitious?

Does she work in: medicine? Tourism? Education? Entertainment? Did she write a relevant song or poem? Is she well-known?

Bonnie Tyler.
So she made the song in 1983, and was invited to perform on the eclipse cruise?
Will she perform at another eclipse event in the future, if she's alive? Be there without performing?

Will she perform at another eclipse event in the future, if she's alive? Be there without performing? Yes to all

**** SPOILER ****

Bonnie Tyler performed the song "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" (her 1983 hit song) on a cruise ship during the 2017 total solar eclipse, which was seen in the southern Atlantic Ocean. If she's still alive in a few years she may be asked to perform in Austin, TX which will be an area of total blackout for a total solar eclipse.

Nice job Galfisk
