Business-ish: selling something? Buying something? Providing a service? yesish, but only in one technical sense that isn't completely relevant to the puzzle Charging for something? Charging for something that's supposed to be free?
Bad: fraudulent? Conflict-causing? yesish Greedy? Anti-competitive? Selfish? Stupid? yesish Misguided? yesish Inappropriate? yes Inconsiderate? yesish Smelly? Privacy-invading? Painful?

Did the phone call last more than a minute? Had he not said anything during the call would she be ruined by the phone call as well? Did her phone relevantly vibrate when he called? Ring? Did anyone relevantly hear it?
Is internet connection relevant? E.g. she lost the connection/what she was foing with the phone was interrupted when he called her?

To be sure; the phone call ruined her once she received it? Or maybe she lost the call and therefore something bad happened (hence the call ruined her since she did not answer when she was supposed to)?
Did she expect his phone call? Could any phone call ruin her business? Any phone call in that moment? In any moment? Are bets relevant? Games? Poker? Auctions?

Did the phone call last more than a minute? possibly
Had he not said anything during the call would she be ruined by the phone call as well? no

Did her phone relevantly vibrate when he called? Ring? Did anyone relevantly hear it?
Is internet connection relevant? E.g. she lost the connection/what she was doing with the phone was interrupted when he called her?
To be sure; the phone call ruined her once she received it? Or maybe she lost the call and therefore something bad happened (hence the call ruined her since she did not answer when she was supposed to)?
Did she expect his phone call? there's a major false assumption in these lines of questions

Could any phone call ruin her business? Any phone call in that moment? In any moment? Are bets relevant? no to all
Games? this one Poker? Auctions?

Monopoly relevant?
Did he call her? On her phone? If not did he xall someone else that she knows? Relevant her relation with the someone? Did she know about the call? Did she know that the someone had received a call? If so directly? Indirectly? Because she began to experience the financial loss? Are stocks relevant?
Financial loss = less money in her bank account? Less potential earnings? Less money in her wallet? No more valuable objects?

Game = an app? A strategy game? A PC game? A playstation game? A table game? A game in which money can be lost? Did she sell games? Toys?
Game as a sport? Footbal game? Others?
Game of thrones relevant?

Repevant which sport? May I invoke the list? Relevant the reason why he called the someone? Is the someone partecipating at the game? partecipating at the game as player? As public? As referee? As part of the staff?
Has the game already been played? Or is it a future game? A game that is being played at the moment of the call?
Relation with the someone called = friends? Concurrent? Co workers? Wife and husband? Son and daughter? Collegues? Strangers? Boss and employee? Others?

Is the result of the game relevant for her potential earning? Sponsor relevant? Construction of a building/stadium? Did she sell food? (E.g. the call was to avoid glass bottles in the stadium so that she could not sell her products?)
Did she waste time due to the call? Went in the wrong place? Was not able to sell her products? Bet on a losing team? Go to a game instead of another? Had a wrong timing? Are coreographies relevant? Super bowl?

So I invoke the list of sports please.

Is the someone calling her "boss" a player? A coach? Is something illegal going on? Is VAR technology relevant? Potential earnings coming from victory or defeat of a team/player? Is it common to call referees/staff during the game? During the pauses of the game?

(WAG --> it was a boxing match. She was a journalist that made comments in favor of one of the two players. He called the referee and the tone resembled the ring of the bell. The player hit the opponent and lost the match)

LTPFers will usually "invoke the list" meaning they don't want to guess every sport that exists, so please just tell them which one. ^^ Personally, I like making people work a little and so sometimes I deny the request!

To be clear, which relationship is the boss/employee(ish) one: she is employee, caller is boss? Caller is boss, person called is employee? Other?

Is the caller alerting someone of cheating? Is she betting against herself? Or betting for herself, with an unfair advantage?

Is it tennis? A variant--racquetball, badminton, pickleball, etc.? Golf? Tetherball? Croquet? Pool/snooker?

LTPFers will usually "invoke the list" meaning they don't want to guess every sport that exists, so please just tell them which one. ^^ Personally, I like making people work a little and so sometimes I deny the request! it's unfortunate if they thought they would have to have guessed every sport in existence, I certainly wouldn't have made them do that, the sport in this case is golf, it's probably one of the most popular sports in the world, along with just a handful of others like soccer and basketball etc. and it was revealed in other answers that it was a ball sport and a non-team sport, I assumed they would have guessed a few sports and mentioned golf in one of those guesses, I guess I should have conveyed that figuring out the sport wasn't going to that difficult of a thing and to give it a try

To be clear, which relationship is the boss/employee(ish) one: she is employee yesish caller is boss? no Caller is boss, person called is employee? no Other? yes

So Golf right?...sorry for the laziness of mine xD.
Recap: he (can we call him Adam?) ruined her (Brenda is fine?) by calling someone that was part of the staff and was yesishly a referee right?

Is something illegal going on? Was the someone called distracted relevantly by the phone call? Was he called by Adam at the beginning of the match? At the end? In the middle? During the turn of a specific player? The one that would have favored a gain for Brenda? The other one? Were there just two players? More? Relevant?

Is Adam part of the staff as well? Part of the public? Was he related to the one called (Carl is ok?)? Was Brenda actively taking part of the match? As a art of the staff? Was Carl?

Would the financial gain of Brenda have come from the lost of someone else's money? Lost of Adam's money? Were Adam and Carl related (e.g. Adam = player)? Did they know each other? Would they have had a financial loss in case a player would have won? Relevant that Brenda is a woman?
Is the choice of the club relevant? Caddie driver relevant? If so the caddie driver of a specific player? OF more players? Were any among Adam, Brenda and Carl a caddie driver? Are meteorological conditions relevant? Field conditions? Relevant how staff members are paid?
Is Brenda's gain deriving from a part of her normal job? Does she work for a player? If not, did she always gain if a certain player wins over the other? If so, the same player? The one with more holes? The one with less holes? The one helped by her? (not an expert of golf)

WAG --> (as you will see I love WAGs): she was an hot-dog seller in the middle of the field (so a staff member). Adam called Carl to deviate the path that player should follow duing the match so that far less people (no public) would have pass to her hot-dog shop to buy something to eat

Relevant how Adam had Carl's number? Did Carl give it to Adam? Did Brenda? Did someone else? Did he call Carl on his personal phone? Did Carl ask Adam to call him? (E.g. he lost his phone) Did he expect Adam's phone call?

Did Carl answer the phone? Was it a long call? Was it about golf? A club? A caddie? A hole? A player? The pitch? The location of a player? Was it about something that went wrong in the match? Something lost by someone? Something seen by the public? Was Adam fan of some player in particular? The same that Brenda wanted to win? Did he know he was contrasting Brenda's interests?

Are referees usually on thr pitch in golf?
Is Brenda taking part of the match as public? As player? As second referee? As assistant? As sponsor? As representative? Was she related to one of the players in particular?
To be sure: are we talking about professional golf players? People who does it as a job?

Was Carl working as a referee while he was called by Adam? Relevant that in golf players = referees? Do they take the role of referee in turns and that was Carl's turn?
Does the phone call cause: an incident? The lost of a player? Distraction of Carl? Violation of the rules?

Were players relevantly of different nations? Is it something related to Olympic games (e.g. players of different cities. The city of the winner would have been the place of Olympic games). Relevant which was the prize of the winner? Would Brenda have financially gained directly from the prize?

Did Adam signal some irregularity to Carl? A hole that has been enlarged? Moved? Someone who put the golf ball inside a hole? A flag that has been moved? Touching the ball with her hands? Was the hole reachable in a simple way? Was there mud/water/sand? Was the ball in the middle of mud/water/sand? Were the balls of the opponent? Did B put the ball of one opponent in the water/mud/sand?

Did the rest of the public notice what Adam did? Was there a display for the public to better gollow the match? If so, was Adam able to spot the irregularity through that relevant technology? Through some other technology that Carl did not dispose of? Thanks to the public point of view? Thanks to a zooming device? Telescope?

Was the irregularity about: golf rules? That particular game (e.g. it was designed for blind people and Adam noticed that Brenda was not)? Did Carl trust Adam immediately? Did he need to verify what Adam has told?

Was Brenda near to a hole? Did she go to an hole in advance? Did B break the rules voluntarily? Did B break the rules for all the time until Adam made the call? Just in a specific moment of the match which was spotted by Adam? Also by the rest of the public near Adam?

Water hazard? Is someone else required in order for her to be able to break the rules? Is she being helped? Putting relevant?

it's been established that he saw her break a rule, and to not be tedious, the particular rule she broke isn't necessary in solving the puzzle, i'll mention what the broken rule was when the puzzle is solved by the way

Solve: This is a true story that happened on the LPGA tour a couple of years ago, you know how during golf telecasts they show close ups of the players putting? well an observant fan watching on tv at home noticed a player touch her ball with her putter without counting it as a stroke, that is a violation of the rules and the onsite officials did not notice it, but the fan at home did, so he got in contact with the governing body of the league and informed them what happened and mentioned they could watch the video to see that actually happened, well the governing body did, and they took a point away from that golfer, who was in the lead at the time, costing her the win.
