Postby JenBurdoo » Tue Dec 10, 2019 5:10 pm

A man, camping in the woods, pitched his tent, made a campfire outside the tent, ate a meal, extinguished the fire and went to sleep. Later that night, he died. Explain.

Did he die because he made a fire? Extinguished it? Ate a meal? Because of something. Related to pitching his tent? Did he extinguish the fire with his tent? Is it relevant what he extinguished the fire with? What he made the fire with? (Brush from the area, pre-bought logs, etc.?) Relevant what he ate for a meal? Was it something he brought with him? Something he killed? Was he killed by the mama of his food? Relevant what else he did before he went to sleep?

Was the cause of death animal attack? Insect attack? Weather-related? Murder? Accident? Geography relevant?

No. Was it something he brought with him? Irr. Something he killed? Irr. Was he killed by the mama of his food? No. Relevant what else he did before he went to sleep? No.

Smoke of the fire relevant? Did he die for asphyxiation? Burned? Did someone notice the fire? Did he relevantly burn something that was not meant to be burned? Something poisonous? Something that feeds the fire? Plants? Paper? Wood? Relevant? Was the man alone? Can we assume so? Had he been with others would the others have died as well? By the same causes? Did he relevantly eat something that he did not have to eat?

Relevant where in the woods he made his camping? In the middle of the woods? In a normal woods? Very high in the mountains? Oxygen relevant? CO2? Oil? Others?

Later that night --> hours later? Minutes? Seconds? Had it been afrernoon would he have died all other conditions been equal? Had he not gone to sleep?

Could he have avoided to make a fire? Was it relevantly cold? Are avalanches relevant? Was the fire totally extinguished when he went to sleep? Can we assume so? Did the fire begin again after he went to sleep? Did something burn relevantly? Was it snowy? Windy? Cloudy?

Did something melt? Yes. Ice? Yope. Moving from cold to hot relevant? From hot to cold? Did something freeze? Yes. Freezed lakes/rivers? No to the rest.

***** SPOILER *****

He camped under a tree with a great deal of snow on the branches. His fire warmed the snow and weakened its hold. That night, it fell on him and killed him.
