he = HAM? A real man? Fantasy relevant? Comics? Movies? Others? Was he alive? Relevant which was his town? Is it in Europe? USA? Asia? Africa? Others? His town = his birth town? His hometown? The town that he founded?
Relevant his name? Relevant his age? Relevant which birthday it was? Relevant which gift his town received in his behalf? Something that was socially useful? An hospital? A tool? Did he buy one? Had his town not received it in his behalf would he have received a gift? The same gift? Was it a normal gift? A gift that everyone could have received for the birthday?

Was him an important man for his town? War relevant? Relevant who made the gift to him? Ho gave it to his town? His town = the major? Other institutions? Relevant? Recognitions/memorials relevant? Others?

WAG --> he died and his memorial was a recurrence in the town. His gift was to repair his statue/memorial which was a fountain and hence something useful to the town.

Was he alive? He was at one time. --> was him at the time of the puzzle? Before receiving the gift? Before the city took it in his behalf? When the decision was taken that the town took the gifting his behalf? If he died, was his gift connected to his death? Was his gift related to this death (graveyard? Tombstone? caskets? others?) Did he die exactly the day of his birthday? Relevant how he died? By making his job? By serving the town? While constructing something useful for the town? Did his death made the city become famous (e.g. mysterious death of Gaudì making the incompleteness of Sagrada Familia famous around the globe?)?Directly (e.g.his body publicly burned? He was an astronaut dying on the Apollo 1? His death provoked an explosion?) ? Indirectly (e.g. because he died in such a town?)

Was him part of a public institution? A politician? A fireman? A soldier? A major? A policeman? A pilot? A sportsman? A musician? A pope? A priest? A professor? A taxi/bus driver? An actor? Others?

Relevant his name? Relevant his age? Relevant which birthday it was? Yes or yessish to all. --> was he older than 50? A multiple of 10 (i.e. 20? 30? 40?...)? Any insurance on life relevant?

Yes, something useful, but not that tangible. Explore. --> was he man an artist? An architect? A doctor? Did he die in order to reach his aim? Did his death provoke something like protests of people? Did his death revealed something (e.g. the severity of a virus? The presence of criminals? others?)

Relevant how he died? Was he killed? Natural causes? Was him shoot? Did he commit suicide? Was he considered an hero? A pacifier? A philosopher? A soldier? A thinker? A dictator? A founder of european union? Are there streets/squares with his name? Relevant?
Is the town known? Is it a European capital (e.g. Paris, rome, london, berlin, barcelona...)? Is it an Eastern Europe town? A western Europe? A town with his name? Relevant historical events during his life? E.g. WWII? Cold war? More recent events? Older? Others?

Is he a european? If so, relevant his nationality? Rumenian? Italian? German? English (before Brexit)? France? Spanish? Russian? Greek? Others?

For the 200th anniversary of his birth, in 2018, the town of Trier, Germany, honored native son Karl Mark by changing some of the walk/don't walk lights in the city. They substituted for the ordinary stick figures, a cartoon picture of Marx.

From each puzzler according to his/her abilities, to - in this case - Earnest. Congrats!
