How did the insertion of a plug into a bodily opening make my life much more pleasant?

Are we talking about an earplug? nose plug?

Did you insert the plug into an opening of your own body? Did someone else insert it into their body?

Snoring relevant?

Did you insert it into someone else's body? Did someone else insert it into your body? This

Relevant bodily opening: nose? mouth? ear? tear duct? This one... I thought that would take longer... urethra? anus? o.O Whatever would have caused that guess?... apart from the very deliberate wording of the puzzle statement.

Bodily opening=opening in a body? Human body? This, see above Animal body?

Sorry, my mind is in the gutter

Having too much tear fluid relevant? Not enough tear fluid? Dry eyes?

Did a doctor insert some kind of plug into your tear duct?

Sorry, my mind is in the gutter

Having too much tear fluid relevant? Not enough tear fluid? Dry eyes? Among other things, this

Did a doctor insert some kind of plug into your tear duct? Yes

That's a lot of quickly-deduced information, but I can't call it solved yet because there's a key detail left.

Did you have a medical condition? Did the medical condition cause you to cry a lot? Or did you just dislike crying?

Did the plug make it hard to tell that you have the condition? Did it mask the symptoms? Did it improve your social life? Did the medical condition cause people to think you were being rude?

Did it make wearing contacts possible? Yes Pleasant? Mainly, Yes.

****SPOILER****

I have keratoconus, requiring me to wear rigid contact lenses, but also have a dry right eye. This has made it difficult to wear the right lens (meaning I'd need to patch over that eye), but the problem had gotten worse over the past several months to the point where I was lucky if I could wear the lens once a week.
The solution? My eye doctor inserted a plug in my lower tear duct in that eye. By doing so, the moisture in my right eye can only drain through the upper tear duct. This keeps my eye moist longer and has made it able for me to wear that lens again.

Nicely done everyone!
