[klondike mary] preaching to the choir, part 2

Postby klondike mary » Tue Jun 23, 2020 9:09 pm

Had this conversation with a friend the other day.
She: I think the End Times must be here, and this toilet paper shortage proves it.
Me: How do you figure that?
She: Well, you know the old Gospel song "---- --- ---- -- ------ -- ------"

Disclaimer: She was not being entirely serious. Nor am I

Disclaimer #2: PUN ALERT!

Is the pun on: sanitation? Body parts? Bodily functions? Human nature? Panic buying? Ass=donkey relevant?

Does the pun connect "end" with the human butt? Are the end times mentioned in the song?

Does every "-" in the song title stand for one letter? It is a song in English, right? Old: From the 19th century? Older?

Is one of the title's words "rolls"? "Paper"? "short"?

Does every "-" in the song title stand for one letter? YES is a song in English, right? Yes. Old: From the 19th century? I would say this. Older?

Is one of the title's words "rolls"? "Paper"? "short"? 'Roll' is correct, the others n.r. You may be on to something. Care to explore?

You'd think I'd know this, as I like old folk songs, but...

Roll the Old Chariot Along
comes to mind, but that doesn't fit the letters. Are the first two words "Roll the?" or the third and fourth "roll in?"

Is one of the words the same as a brand of toilet paper?

Does the song, or title, refer to the end times? To what awaits after death? To Jesus?
