Is he a man? boy?

Is he actually dead? Cause of death relevant? Illness? Natural Causes? Murder? Accident?

Does he resemble someone who had died previously? Assuming you can see a dead body does it resemble a stereotypical ghost in appearance? White sheet relevant? Chains ? the way the body was dressed?

By ghost do you mean the standard definition of ghost (spook) ? Ghost writing relevant?

Is this spoken aloud? Is the speaker the killer? Someone who knew him previously? Does the speaker see him at any point? if so, alive? dead?

Is anything actually supernatural going on? Does the speaker think there is?

Would a "ghost" in this case be an apparition of someone who has died? Is there a reason to think a person would not be dead if they were a "ghost" in this sense? Any performance relevant? Any tricks being played?

Is the gender of the speaker relevant?

Did the speaker think "he" was a ghost at the time they killed him? Were they aware that they were killing a living, breathing human?

What does YMMV mean? Is the method of murder relevant? If so: gunshot? Stabbing? Vehicle? Strangulation? Asphyxiation? Poisoning? Blunt force? Pushing off a great height? Drowning? Explosive device? Crows?

What does YMMV mean? "Your Mileage May Vary"; ie, it's arguable. Is the method of murder relevant? Yes. If so: gunshot? Stabbing? Vehicle? Strangulation? Asphyxiation? Poisoning? Blunt force? This. Pushing off a great height? Drowning? Explosive device? Crows?

Relevant why the speaker thought the victim (can we call him Vlad?) was a ghost? Was Vlad part of a haunted house? Had Vlad been trying to scare the speaker (Sam?) Had there been a seance going on? Something else involving the supernatural? Was Sam frightened when they killed Vlad? Amused? Angry? Is the location relevant? Were they at a cemetery? Is Sam's profession relevant? Is Vlad's? Are there any other people relevant to the puzzle? Is it relevant to whom Sam spoke the puzzle statement?

Relevant why the speaker thought the victim (can we call him Vlad?) was a ghost? Yes. Was Vlad part of a haunted house? No, but... Had Vlad been trying to scare the speaker (Sam?) No. Had there been a seance going on? No. Something else involving the supernatural? Yesish. Was Sam frightened when they killed Vlad? No. Amused? Possibly. Angry? No. Is the location relevant? No. Were they at a cemetery? Would work; assume so if you wish. Is Sam's profession relevant? Yes. Is Vlad's? No. Are there any other people relevant to the puzzle? Yes. Is it relevant to whom Sam spoke the puzzle statement? No.

did the victim expect to be killed by the speaker? No. Was he dieing anyway? No. if so for natural reasons? any fictional character relevant? No.
Did the killer killed him assuming that he would have become a ghost? Rephrase, I'm not sure what you're asking. clairvoyance relevant? No. speaking with dead people? Yes.

Maybe I am confusing the time sequence. So to clarify: Sam killed Vlad thinking that he was a ghost? (not the other way, like Sam killed Vlad thinking that he would have become a ghost, right?)

will-o'-the-wisp relevant?

Are there any other people relevant to the puzzle? Yes. --> Did others see Sam killing Vlad? Did they approve Sam's action? Did they try to stop him? Did they expect to see a ghost? Did they tell Sam that Vlad was a ghost?
Did Sam expect to talk with Vlad? To interact with Vlad? To transform Vlad in a ghost?

Did Sam meant to kill Vlad? Did Sam see other ghosts? Did he try to kill them with blunt force?
blunt force = kicks and/or punches? By lifting Vlad? By lifting something where he was sit? By fighting with Vlad? strangulation? tackle? thrust? arm wrestling? drowning him?

Is Vlad a professional boxeur? does he work in sport? health care?
Is Vlad unger hypnosis? drunk? Something similar? would anyone have thought that Vlad was a ghost?

Can we classify Sam (Vlad) expectation as naive? crazy? reasonable? normal? out of the ordinary?
Is technology relevant? holograms? Can we classify Sam sentence (puzzle statement) as: ironic? genuine? surprised? meaningless?

Did Vlad define himself a ghost?

Maybe I am confusing the time sequence. I thought you might be, hence why I asked. So to clarify: Sam killed Vlad thinking that he was a ghost? Correct. (not the other way, like Sam killed Vlad thinking that he would have become a ghost, right?) No.

will-o'-the-wisp relevant? No.

Are there any other people relevant to the puzzle? Yes. --> Did others see Sam killing Vlad? Yes. Did they approve Sam's action? Yes. Did they try to stop him? No. Did they expect to see a ghost? Yes. Did they tell Sam that Vlad was a ghost? Irr.
Did Sam expect to talk with Vlad? Yes. To interact with Vlad? Yes. To transform Vlad in a ghost? No.

Did Sam meant to kill Vlad? No. Did Sam see other ghosts? Irr. Did he try to kill them with blunt force? No.
blunt force = kicks and/or punches? By lifting Vlad? By lifting something where he was sit? By fighting with Vlad? strangulation? tackle? thrust? arm wrestling? drowning him? None of these.

Is Vlad a professional boxeur? does he work in sport? health care? None, irr.
Is Vlad unger hypnosis? drunk? Something similar? No to all. would anyone have thought that Vlad was a ghost? No, but...

Can we classify Sam (Vlad) expectation as naive? Yes. crazy? Yes, for SVV. reasonable? No. normal? No. out of the ordinary? Yes. (All opposite for Vlad)
Is technology relevant? Mildly. holograms? No. Can we classify Sam sentence (puzzle statement) as: ironic? genuine? This. surprised? And this. meaningless?

Did Vlad define himself a ghost? No.

Was someone playing a prank on Sam? If so Vlad? The people Sam was with?

Did the other people also think Vlad was a ghost? Know Sam's action's would kill a person? Did everyone there share the same profession? 'Ghost hunters'/paranormal investigators or some thing like that?

So Sam is a paranormal investigator? And he and his team are investigating Vlad’s house? Which they believe to be haunted? But is actually possessed by at least one very much alive person, Vlad? Does Vlad approach them? And they attack in fear? Or start up some part of their investigation, leading to his death? They swing something at him to prove he’s an apparition, and it ends up killing him?

So Sam is a paranormal investigator? And he and his team are investigating Vlad’s house? Which they believe to be haunted? But is actually possessed by at least one very much alive person, Vlad? All correct. Does Vlad approach them? Yes. And they attack in fear? Or start up some part of their investigation, leading to his death? This. They swing something at him to prove he’s an apparition, and it ends up killing him? Yes.

Spoiler:

Sam and a team of paranormal investigators are visiting a haunted house. They meet Vlad, a normal, live human being, but mistake him for a ghost. Vlad explains he is not a ghost, but is disbelieved. Sam, assuming Vlad to be the sort of ghost that doesn't realize it's dead, tries to help Vlad "accept his death" by tossing a brick at him, expecting it to pass through and prove Vlad's ghostliness. Instead, he strikes and kills Vlad.
