[Balin] The 1st sentence would finish 8th in Little Lytton

Postby Balin » Wed May 27, 2020 1:36 pm

One day, a woman farts. It is neither noiseless nor odorless, and it is noticed by many people. The woman does not die. Explain.

Inspired by, but unrelated to, WiZ's puzzle of a similar title. ROIMBT.

Would she have died otherwise? Was she in a crowded place? Indoors? Outdoors?

Was she pregnant? I mean while giving birth women usually push and inevitably often fart.

Did someone else die? Was she assumed to die? Did she fart because of fear? Because of tension? Because of a disease? Because of diarrea? Voluntarily? Did she fart while in an horrible situation? In troubles? Risking her life?

Is she on a plane?

Is one of the people who noticed it a doctor who recognizes the sound/smell of the fart as a symptom of the disease and manages to treat it in time to save her life?

Right on all counts, and welcome back!

****SPOILER****

The woman has undiagnosed celiac disease, which causes her to emit particularly foul farts. When on a plane, one of her emissions catches the attention of another passenger, a doctor, who recognizes the smell as abnormal. Because of this, her celiac is treated before it can cause other fatal problems.

Nicely done!

Goodness, I blinked and missed both being the basis for a meta-reference, and the return of Doriana.

Amusing title, and good puzzle.

How coincidental that I was just reading old Lyttle Lytton winning sentences earlier today! Some of them are really funny. Anyway, that was a quick puzzle!

Calling my brief reappearance on the forum a return might be overly optimistic, WiZ, but it feels good to be back.

Nice puzzle!

Good to have you back again, Doriana, however briefly! But hag around for a while this time.
