[Balin] The hook and ladder trick

Postby Balin » Mon Jun 17, 2019 8:30 pm

Zack hopes a certain social movement will continue to progress. He has no direct association with the movement, nor does he hold any strong feelings for or against it, so why does he want this?

Zack: HAM? Does he have an economic interest in the continuation of the movement? Is the movement related to: black lives matter? LGBTQ issues? Occupy? Environmental issues?

If not an economic interest, are his interests nonetheless (directly or indirectly) served by this movement? Is he interested in what this movements says? Does? Does he expect some kind of societal or policy change to result? Does he expect that another group would react to what is being said? Does he have a personal interest in anyone involved in the movement (or who might be indirectly affected by it, as above)? Does he study the movement? Does his job involve being conscious of what this or similar movement(s) do(es)?

Is he hoping that government policy will change? New laws will be enacted? Regulations for business or individuals?
Is the "certain group of people" a sub-group of the LGBT community? Or separate from it?

Is this group of people homophobic/transphobic? Are they allies? Is their stance related to LGBTQ people relevant? Are they linked by: religion? Profession? Hobby? Ethnicity? Blood? Does Zack hope these people will become more sympathetic to LGBTQ people? Less? (Let’s hope not.) Is he part of this group himself?

Sorry what is LGBTQ?

So he is part of the movement (as a member?) but he has no direct association with it? Or he just shares the same hobby?
Is traffic interruption relevant? Being late? Were they (LGBTQ) protesting? Lateral forum relevant? Is someone else relevantly related to the movement? Someone he knew? Was the hobby they carried on useful for him? Helpful? Is it an every day hobby? relevant why he is not member even if he shares the hobby?
Hobby = a sport? Chess? Lateral thinking? Photography? Health care? Animals? Techology/internet? Cinema? Music? Theater? Street performers? Cleaning streets/sand? Environmental friendly?

WAG--> the girl he likes is part of the movement. Had the movement progressed she would have moved to his city.

Earnest, LGBTQ is basically the gay, trans, lesbian, non-binary, etc. movement. There have been more letters added to the English acronym, but I don’t know them all, but LGBTQ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Trans, Queer.

Is their hobby related to what would be considered a leisure activity? A sport? A cultural happening?

So he is part of the movement (as a member?) but he has no direct association with it? He is not part of the movement Or he just shares the same hobby? Yes - he's part of the hobby group, which is not related to the LGBTQ movement
Is traffic interruption relevant? No Being late? No Were they (LGBTQ) protesting? No Lateral forum relevant? No Is someone else relevantly related to the movement? No Someone he knew? No
Was the hobby they carried on useful for him? As mentioned above, the "hobby" group is separate from LGBTQ Helpful?
Is it an every day hobby? Not for most people relevant why he is not member even if he shares the hobby? See above
Hobby = a sport? I'd call it a game, not a sport. No to rest Chess? Lateral thinking? Photography? Health care? Animals? Techology/internet? Cinema? Music? Theater? Street performers? Cleaning streets/sand? Environmental friendly?

WAG--> the girl he likes is part of the movement. Had the movement progressed she would have moved to his city. No

Is their hobby related to what would be considered a leisure activity? A sport? See above - I'd say more game than sport A cultural happening?

Thanks trebor!

Game played = a role play? Handball? Bowling? Cards? Computer gaming? Betting? Historical reproductions? Painting? Dancing?

Is it a team game? Do they challenge each other? Other teams? A game rhat needs a specific place to meet? Specific tools? Being laud? Relevant?
Progressing of LGBTQ = progressing/more benefits for the hobby group? Had it been another group would the puzzle still have worked? If not because of the rights that LGBTQ movement is fighting for? Or for some peculiarity of the group which is not related to its main aim?

Were some or all the members of the movement part of the game group? Or we can assume no association also in this sense?

Do the players of the game benefit from the presence of the group? If so mainly due to: the location or the place where the LGBTQ meet? Activities carried on by the LGBTQ? Food relevant? Meetings? The t-shirts/other accessories they produce? Flags? No more useful material? Side activities carried on by the movement? The members of the movement? The job of certain members of the group? Some priviledges they had by having the LGBTQ in the nearby(is it in the nearby?) ? Some members of the LGBTQ that stops and watch them playing acting as "public"? LGBTQ covers the hobby group activities? Maybe LGBTQ did not give them the problems that they would have with someone else in the nearby (e.g. the group needed music which was appreciated by LGBTQ or viceversa)?

Is the game played indoors? Outdoors? In certain seasons only? Are Pride festivities relevant? Is the game one that children can play as well as adults? Is it a board game? Is it primarily a physical game? Mental? Game of luck?

Game played = a role play? Handball? Bowling? Cards? Computer gaming? Betting? Historical reproductions? Painting? Dancing? None of these

Is it a team game? No Do they challenge each other? Yes Other teams? A game rhat needs a specific place to meet? No Specific tools? Yes, for svv of "tools" Being laud? Relevant?
Progressing of LGBTQ = progressing/more benefits for the hobby group? Yes Had it been another group would the puzzle still have worked? No If not because of the rights that LGBTQ movement is fighting for? Yes, svv of "rights" Or for some peculiarity of the group which is not related to its main aim?

Were some or all the members of the movement part of the game group? Probably Or we can assume no association also in this sense? You can assume no association - any overlap between the groups is irrelevant to the puzzle

Do the players of the game benefit from the presence of the group? Not sure what you mean by "presence" here If so mainly due to: the location or the place where the LGBTQ meet? No to all these

Is the game played indoors? Usually Outdoors? In certain seasons only? No Are Pride festivities relevant? No Is the game one that children can play as well as adults? Yes Is it a board game? Yes Is it primarily a physical game? Mental? This Game of luck?

Scrabble relevant? Are rules of the game relevant? Do members of the movement actively promote the game? Give ideas to carry on the game? Know the existence of the game? Can we assume the members of the LGBTQ do not know the rules of the game nor its existence?

Is the game based on reality? Is it a futuristic game? A fantasy game? A game based on the past? Relevant "tools" used in the game: cards? Dice? Maps? Papers? Fake guns/bullets? Action figures Thumbnails/miniature? Technology (phones/apps/internet)?
Does the game include a relevant story? A story that was criticised because speaks about an homosexual couple? Is homosexuality involved in the game somehow?

Is the way the movement fight for his purposes relevant? Just by marching and protesting? Can we assume so? Are the tools used for their activities relevant? Flags? Rainbow flags? Internet? Website? Box of the game (e.g. it had particular colors and shape and was used in their marches advertising it indirectly)? Google maps to identify the position of the main center?
Does the movement relevantly fight for: equality? Equal rights for homosexual couples? Free marriages among people of same sex? Other relevant topics?

Not aware of whether his fits as a board game, but is it DnD? I'd call that a "tabletop game" more than a board game; either way, it's not DnD

Scrabble relevant? Yes - this is the game Are rules of the game relevant? Somewhat

Do members of the movement actively promote the game? Give ideas to carry on the game? Know the existence of the game? Can we assume the members of the LGBTQ do not know the rules of the game nor its existence? Is the game based on reality? Is it a futuristic game? A fantasy game? A game based on the past? A story that was criticised because speaks about an homosexual couple? Is homosexuality involved in the game somehow?
All these are No or Irrel, as you now know what the game is

Is the way the movement fight for his purposes relevant? Yes, but they aren't fighting for Scrabble purposes, just their own Just by marching and protesting? Not specifically relevant Can we assume so? Are the tools used for their activities relevant? No Flags? Rainbow flags? Internet? Website? Box of the game (e.g. it had particular colors and shape and was used in their marches advertising it indirectly)? Google maps to identify the position of the main center? None of these are relevant

Gender neutral pronouns relevant? Does he hope a certain gender-neutral pronoun will gain widespread recognition so it will be an acceptable scrabble word? Maybe “ze” since that would be a really good scrabble word because of the z?
